MOVING UP, IN, AND ON

CATHEDRAL SCHOOL FACULTY AND STAFF ON THE MOVE

THE REVEREND MEHRDAD ABIDARI, Chaplain, retired from his 14-year career at Cathedral last spring. Previously he served as chaplain at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Day School in San Mateo, Rice University, and Medical University of South Carolina. Born in Iran, Fr. Abidari spent his youth in Switzerland, Algeria, and England before arriving in the United States to attend Georgetown University, where he did his undergraduate and graduate studies in inter- national relations. He trained for the Episcopal priesthood at General Theological Seminary in New York. Cathedral will miss his guidance, stewardship, and good humor greatly and hopes he does not stay away long.

TAYLOR ROY, Kindergarten Teaching Assistant. After a successful year as our kindergarten assistant here at Cathedral, Ms. Roy has decided to focus full-time on her studies and obtaining her teacher’s credential.

DANA MARINI, Third-Grade Co-Lead. After ten years of calling San Francisco his home, Mr. Marini is headed back to Chicago to cheer on his Cubbies. He has been a staple of Cathedral’s Lower School since 2010, working extensively throughout the division and spending the last four years teaching third grade. Last summer he took his annual solo bike trip from Vancouver, B.C. to Portland. His passion for teaching and personality will be greatly missed both in and out of the classroom.

EMY GELB, Kindergarten Co-Lead, comes to us after two years teaching kindergarten at the Burke’s School. Prior to her time there, she worked in the non-profit and experi- ential education world. Ms. Gelb holds an M.A. from the University of Pacific and Master Education from the University of Washington, as well as a B.A. in Journalism and Latin American

YVONNE BLAXTER, Annual Giving and Special Events Manager, over the last 10 years, Ms. Blaxter has been an active volunteer in support of fundraising and parent events at Cathedral, and most recently, as Parents Association President. She is the parent of a Cathedral School student, Henry ’21, and a Burke’s graduate, Adeline ’18. She earned her B.A. degree in Biology from Williams College. In her free time, she enjoys running and cheering on the Hawks athletics teams.

THE REVEREND MARTHA KORIENEK, Chaplain, comes to us from New York City where she worked at Grace Church and Grace Church School. Prior to that, Rev. K served Episcopal parishes in Burlingame, Newport Beach, and Chicago. She earned her M.A. (Christian Education) from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2018, her M.Div. from Yale Divinity School in 2006, and her B.A. (Education) from the University of Illinois in 2001.

Studies from the George Washington University.

MARY BISHOP, Associate Director of Development. Cathedral School said “goodbye” to Ms. Bishop this year after 14 years of service as Associate Director of Development. She returned to her alma mater, San Domenico in Marin, to be their new Director of Alumni Relations. We will miss her vast expertise and quick wit immensely.
