3. Extend our fellowship. The Christians have become static in a whirlwind society. Often people become part of our fellowship only if they stubbornly force their way in. If a young, nice-looking couple appears at our church, if they are not too different from us, if they come for a few weeks, then we might let them become our friends. Do they know how lucky they are? If you do not dress well, are poor, or lack social graces, you are not nearly as likely to be fully accepted into Christian fellowship. This is the time-consuming work that is bound to score in the lives of the lonely. Go out of the way to be their friends. Dig the despondent person out of his rut and let him know you care. 4. Apply some Biblical principles. These principles must be used in two directions: toward those who need you and toward you who needs you. Be sure that you do not become among those who feel empty in life. a. The dignity of man. Maybe we preach the de pravity of man until we cause as much trouble as we prevent. To a person already drowning, we throw an anchor by telling him he is no good. Ephesians 5:29 says that no man hates his own flesh. It is not nor mal because we were created in the image of God. As Christians, we are members of the family of God and as His prized possession, we have no need to hate ourselves. b. The anxiety of man. Philippians 4:6, 7 re minds us that we need not have anxiety over anything because we go to prayer. Even if for short periods of only a couple of sentences a person could learn to cultivate trust. We do not need to criticize or con demn people because they do not trust enough but rather to show them the way. c. The adoption of God. Our society is filled with people who had no parents, one parent, or parents who just did not care. It does us no good to sit around and cry about yesterday. God moves in quick ly and offers stability by promising to adopt you. Psalm 27:10 reads: “ When my father and mother forsake me then the Lord will take me up.” We then turn our eyes toward tomorrow knowing what a new parent we have. d. Really living. To hear of the Christ presented in most churches, you would think He was trying to prevent people from living. John 10:10 speaks of an abundant life and many discouraged Christians need to be reminded that Christ does not hold them guilty for imagined sins or local mores or petty prejudices. Christ has set us free to enjoy and use life to His glory. The most effective deterrent is to receive Christ as one’s personal Saviour, and many pastors and mission workers have prevented suicides by act ing quickly to lead the person to see the great love of God in giving His Son for his salvation. Maybe you can help a despondent person today and prevent him from self-destruction. Possibly that

WHERE CAN A JEW FIND CHRIST? On street corners, in homes, in shops, and in our witnessing cen ters, our workers faith fully proclaim the story of redemption accord ing to Moses and the prophets, and the gos pel message from the New Testament, and Jews are finding the Saviour. A Jewish boy accepted a tract, "Isaiah's Por trait of Messiah" and immediately asked, *Can you tell me more about this?" There on a street corner in Chicago a 12 year old boy listened intently to the skillful presentation of the Scripture? and ac cepted Jesus Christ as his Messiah and Sav- ¡our. A middle-aged Jew ess, after hearing the gospel for several years at Miami Beach called and said, "I am terribly distressed. Please come over. I must find the Lord today."
