STUDENT EVENTS SCHOOL
1. SENIORS WITH GRACE LUNCH, October 27, 2016 A service program that serves the senior community of Grace Cathedral by providing breakfast, lunch, a speaker series, and a food pantry once a month. Our boys will be supporting this effort throughout the year, with Upper School boys helping prior to lunch and Lower School boys providing enter- To the delight of our community, snow fell in Grace Cathedral during the production of Lessons & Carols. As always, Lessons & Carols was a wonderful way to kick off the Christmas break and close out the first half of the school year. We hope to see you there this year on December 15, 2017. 3. CHRIS WADDELL MEET AND GREET, February 16, 2017 Chris Waddell visited Cathedral to share his inspirational story during two student-only assemblies. Chris Waddell’s life changed drastically following an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down while attending Middlebury College. Undeterred, Waddell began using a mono ski and soon rocketed to dominance as an adaptive ski racer and a member of the U.S. Disabled Ski Team. Chris also succeeded in making the first almost entirely unassisted paraplegic ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro that was documented in the film 1Revolution. 4. PARENTS ASSOCIATION GALA #CSBSF, March 4, 2017 320 guests celebrated all things “San Francisco” at Bimbo’s 365 Club. A delicious dinner was served at tables decorated with Golden Gate Bridge- inspired centerpieces. Guests stayed late, enjoying Harvey’s Donuts and dancing to the amazing live band, Notorious. The gala netted more than $350,000. 5. LEON LOGOTHETIS MEET & GREET, March 28, 2017 Leon Logothetis traveled to Cathedral to discuss his world-wide kindness journey, and his new Netflix show “The Kindness Diaries.” 6. SPEAK EVENT WITH DR. HOWARD STEVENSON, April 25, 2017 (not pictured) tainment and/or a craft during the lunch hour. 2. LESSON & CAROLS, December 15, 2016 Dr. Stevenson shared his expertise on “Talking to Our Children About Race” during a Parent Education Evening in the spring. Dr. Stevenson provided an exploration of racial stress and examined racial literacy as a capacity for improving conversations and relationships. Parents met at the Huntington Hotel’s Big Four after his talk to discuss its finer points. 7. STOP HUNGER NOW EVENT, May 11, 2017 With the boys’ help, Grace Cathedral packed a little over 10,000 meals to help feed the world’s hungry! The Upper School did an excellent job packing the meals and the entire CSB family did an exceptional job in helping to collect funds to help pay for the meals we packed. 8. ROB KERMAN/BONNIE FRAENZA CELEBRATION, May 31, 2017 An evening of friendship, food, and merriment celebrated the departures of Rob Kerman and Bonnie Fraenza from their teaching careers at Cathedral. Mr. Kerman and Mrs. Fraenza treated the community to a swan song duet. 9. FIELD DAY, June 6, 2017 Cathedral’s 2017 Field Day was a memorable one. The boys and the commu- nity showed great resolve in persevering through the wind and cold to give their best effort. While the Red Team once again was victorious, everyone showed great sportsmanship and heart in this intense event. Go HAWKS! 10. SLAM DUNK CONTEST AT STUDENT COUNCIL FAIR, June 7, 2017 The Slam Dunk contest produced a high-level of excitement on Cathedral’s rooftop during the 2017 Student Council Fair. Lower and Upper School boys watched as contestants shot nothing but net.
