MOVING UP, IN, AND ON

CATHEDRAL SCHOOL FACULTY AND STAFF ON THE MOVE

CHLOE BANKS, our Lower School science teacher, and her husband are moving to Sacramento. She will be greatly missed by the faculty, staff, and students. Her love for science engaged young minds and inspired everyone to be better stewards of our environment.

LEE BRUNER, our Upper School Spanish teacher, left last fall on adoption leave. However, after spending time with his new daughter, Mr. Bruner has decided to leave teaching for a while and will not be returning to Cathedral. We send the Bruner family our love.

NED MATHES began his teaching career at Cathedral in 2015 as the kindergarten assistant. In Mr. Mathes second year at Cathedral, he moved to the fourth-grade classroom. This school year, Ned begins his first year as a lead fourth- grade teacher at St. Matthews Episcopal Day School in San Mateo. We wish Mr. Mathes the best of luck!

ANJALI HENDERSON joins Dana Marini as the third-grade co-lead teacher. Ms. Henderson most recently taught first grade at Bret Harte Elementary School here in San Francisco. Previously, she worked as a resident teacher at Town. Ms. Henderson graduated from Oberlin with a Bachelor of Arts in history, and she earned her Master of Arts in curriculum and instruction from the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute.

RASHOD COTTON is Cathedral School for Boys’ Upper School PE teacher. Hailing from Hayward, CA, Coach Cotton was a three-sport athlete in high school (basketball, track, and football) and went on to play football collegiately. Coach Cotton graduated from San Francisco State University with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.

CHARLES BARRETT is the Instrumental Music Instructor. He currently holds a Bachelor of Music in tuba performance and a Master of Music in instrumental conducting, both from San Francisco State University. Over the last 10 years, he has taught a wide range of musical subjects in K-12 schools. His passion is for wind band.

KEVIN MATTEONI joined Cathedral last year as our school security guard. Mr. Matteoni quickly learned every boy’s name, and his warm smile and patience smile at drop off and pick up is always appreciated Mr. Matteoni has been a wonderful addition to the Cathedral team.

SETH SHAPIRO, a long-time Lower School teaching assis- tant, has decided to pursue his Master’s degree on a full-time basis. We will miss Mr. Shapiro’s infectious smile and his musical abilities.

JOHN TAYLOR, our fourth- grade teacher, has moved to Chicago (closer to his Wisconsin roots). Mr. Taylor’s wife, Cecile, was offered a position with a commercial real estate venture. Mr, Taylor will be teaching at the Latin School of Chicago.

MOSE WILLIAMS, our seventh- and eighth-grade math teacher, has decided to take a hiatus from teaching and try his hand at carpentry. We applaud his courage to change careers, and wish Mr. Williams the best of luck.
