THE REV. CANON MARK STANGER, Interim Chaplain Rev. Mark Stranger received his B.A. and M.Div. from St. John’s University, Minnesota, where he had also taught. Mr. Stanger also studied in Rome, Italy for his advanced studies in early Christian literature. Rev. Stanger is an Episcopal priest and has served on the Board of the San Francisco Interfaith Council and led many groups on pilgrimage to Jerusalem. He left the staff of Grace Cathedral in December 2018 after two decades of service, and is delighted to be with the School during this pivotal year. JOSÉ ZAMORA, Assistant Director of Admission and Outreach We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Zamora to Cathedral as our new Assistant Director of Admission and Outreach. Mr. Zamora joins us from Aspen Country Day School where he served as fourth-grade teacher and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator. Prior to that he taught in Denver through Teach for America. In moving to San Francisco, Jose returns to California, having grown up in Los Angeles, and graduated from University of California, San Diego.

KATIE RICE JONES, Director of Communications and Marketing Katie Rice Jones will leave her full-time position as Director of Communications and Marketing this fall. Ms. Rice Jones creative directed and managed our brand positioning—our logos, the “C”, the shield, and the hawk; our major collateral, Red&Gold, and annual report; our website; and our brand messaging. Ms. Rice Jones also centralized the School’s communications department. Before working for the School, Ms. Rice Jones was a TV host for Comcast and the media spokesperson for Target Corporation brands. Ms. Rice Jones is also the author of Fashion Dues & Duen’ts. We hope to work with her on creative projects as a freelancer in the future. MARTHA KORIENEK, Chaplain Many of you know that Rev. Martha Korienek, our Chaplain, took leave from Cathedral in February to return to Chicago to care for her mother. Rev. K. has decided not to return to Cathedral this school year. The School has hired the Rev. Mark Stanger to serve as Interim Chaplain for the 2020-21 academic year. JAMES SCHMIDT, Director of Development Jim Schmidt joined Cathedral School’s administrative team in June 2005 as the Director of Development. Since then, Mr. Schmidt has created one of the most successful independent school development offices in the Bay Area. Outside of his role in coordinating the School’s fundraising & engagement efforts, Mr. Schmidt also coaches after-school Math Olympiad for 4th-6th grade mathletes and works closely with Student Council supporting local organizations such as the Bayview Mission, the SF-Marin Food Bank, Seniors at Grace Lunches, and monthly break- fasts at City Hope Community Center (where he also serves as an Advisory Board member). The best of luck to Mr. Schmidt! AYUMI SOHN, Admission Assistant We are so grateful for Ayumi Sohn, Admission Assistant, who stepped up when we needed her. Her love for Cathedral showed in every task she undertook. She brought an exemplary level of “customer service” and cheer to the Front Desk and Admissions. We thank Ms. Sohn for the long hours, weekends, and evenings. We will miss her as a member of the Cathedral staff, but are comforted to know that we will continue to see her regularly as a Cathedral parent.
