David Castle and baby Shaya
David Castle Dave and his wife, Joanna Kabat, welcomed baby Shaya (short for Isaiah) Caleb Kabat-Castle to the world on October 9, 2017. David Denning David and Bridget welcomed baby Juliet Catherine on September 20, 2017. CLASS of 1996 Jason McGaughey Jason writes, “I’m still at Catholic Relief Services based in Afghanistan. Currently, I am the head of their Education Department and Governmental Partnerships here, we have about 100 staff and large projects funded by the British and Canadian governments. Come December, I will have been living in Afghanistan for two years. Also, I am planning my wedding with my partner, Rachel Beach, for next July in Monterey! We are extremely excited.” Akintoye Moses Akin has been promoted to Assistant Director of the Preparatory Component at Prep for Prep in New York City, where he started working in 2016 after teaching for two years at the American School in Rio de Janeiro. CLASS of 1998 Willieford Moses Willie completed his second year as a senior resident in general surgery at UCSF and began a two-year fellowship in pediatric surgery at the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles in August. If the year wasn’t busy enough, he and Serene Weir were married at Slide Ranch in Marin in May 2018. Congratulations! CLASS of 2000 James C. King James and Becca Gularte were married at Fort Mason, San Francisco, on April 28, 2018. While they weren’t able to be at the School’s 60th anniversary celebration on the same day, the school was well-represented at the wedding, with Matt Thier ’00, Jonathan Liu ’00, Brian Spiegel ’00, Matt Switzer ’00, and non-graduate Nick Rowan in attendance! CLASS of 2001 Christopher Crawford Mille congratulazioni! Chris Crawford and Michela Natolli were married in Venice, Italy, on September 20, 2017. Among those in attendance were CSB alums (and brothers of the groom) Will ’03 and Charlie ’11, as well as Matt Thier ’00, Grace Cathedral Choirmaster Ben Bachmann, and former CSB math teacher Kevin Fox. The newlyweds now live in New York City, where they relocated in June 2018 after Chris’ company, Loudr, was acquired by Spotify. Among his new coworkers are Quinton Ma ’02.
James Heffelfinger James is a Lieutenant in the Navy working in Washington D.C. He writes, “I work as a Program Manager at the Joint Improvised Threat Defeat Organization (JIDO), in the National Capital Region. I manage a portfolio of technol- ogies valued at roughly 15 million dollars. We develop new and novel technologies through partnerships with research labs and industry, and ultimately transition the systems to deployed war-fighters. Our primary customer is the Special Operations community (SOCOM, which includes the Navy Seals, Marine Raiders, and Green Berets etc.).” CLASS of 2003 Chukwudi J. Nwadibia Chuk is with the U.S. Department of State and is now posted in Islamabad, Pakistan. CLASS of 2007 Standish T. O’Grady Standish is in San Francisco working for Notability as a quality assurance engineer. CLASS of 2010 Hector Gregory Mom Susie writes, “Hec is going to work for a company called Red Ventures in Fort Mill, South Carolina, just south of Charlotte where he will live. He’s busy setting up accounts with the likes of Duke Energy (electricity) so the Ryan graduated from Princeton and has enlisted in the Navy. He started the three month long Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, in July and hopes to become a commissioned officer in the Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet. James K. Rogers James is currently dancing with the Kansas City Ballet. CLASS of 2012 Alexander D. Brahm Alex is a junior at Macalester College and is spending his fall semester studying abroad in Oslo, Norway. Alexander Gregory nest is indeed being flown.” Ryan P. Hammarskjold Mom Susie writes, “Tut is a rising junior at Wake Forest and is looking forward to the fall semester which he will spend in Florence. He is an English Major/Chinese Minor and now with some Italian thrown in!”
