and He showed them that Christ, their Saviour, was the fulfillment of them all. He showed that Jesus was God’s Son indeed. This made them feel better. At the journey’s end, His friends urged the Stranger to have a meal with them. And He did. When He asked God’s blessing on the food, something in His manner or voice told them that here was their living Lord, right in their midst! After they knew that, all that He had told them on their afternoon’s walk meant more than ever to them. Are we allowing the living Saviour to teach us, too, and to make us glad? Object Lesson O pening P ackages OBJECTS: Six boxes, a small match box colored grey, a small Bible, eyes cut from a magazine, a heart with a door, a picture of lips or an open mouth cut from a magazine, and a cardboard covered with gold paper in which a door is cut. (Place one of the articles in each box and wrap as gifts.) LESSON: Do you like to open pack ages? - I do, too, and I have brought some with me this morning. We shall open them together. The Lord Jesus must have liked to open things, for we read in Luke 23 that He opened several things. We will open this first box and see what is in it. It has a small grey box, representing the grave. We should be glad for Christ’s resurrection, because we now know that the grave can be opened for us. The next package has a Bible in it. In Luke 24:27, we read concerning the Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing* mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sit ting. 3 And there appeared nnto them cloven tongnes like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongnes, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the peo ple, and elders of Israel, 9 If we this day he examined of the good deed done to the Impotent man, by what means he is made whole; 10 Be it known unto yon all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye cruci fied, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before yon whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of yon builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither Is there salvation In any other: for there Is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 13 How when the^ saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

On the Road to Emmaiu L uke 24:13-35 MEMORY VERSE: “Thou art near, O Lord” (Psa. 119:151). APPROACH: What could be more fun than a long walk in the woods with some one who loves us and who knows ever so many things about trees and

birds and insects and animals, and will tell us about them as we walk along together? L E S S O N : Our lesson is about a walk that t h r e e p e o p l e took one day, n o t in t h e woods, but along a

Lord Jesus, “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” We should be thankful that Jesus opened the Scrip tures. You áre wondering what we will find in this package. Eyes that are opened! In verse 31, we are told that “their eyes were opened, and they knew him.” This next package has a heart with a door in it. The Lord Jesus knew that the two disciples did not understand as they should; so He opened their under standing that they might understand the Scriptures. An open mouth is in this box. The resurrection of Christ opened the mouths of the disciples in praise and testimony. The last box hats a gold card, repre-' senting heaven, in which there is a door. The Lord Jesus Christ, because of the resurrection, 'opened a door for us into heaven, for we read, “He was parted from them, and carried up into heaven” (Lk. 24:52). Each time we see a package, every one of us should remember those things Christ opens for all who believe in Him. 14 And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against It. 1 p But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they con ferred among themselves, 16 Saying. What shall we do to these men! for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. . 17 But that It spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. 18 And they palled them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach In the name of Jesus.

road that led to the village of Emmaus, a few miles out from Jerusalem. Two of them were very gloomy and discour aged. When the third Person joined them, He asked why they were so sad. "Why,” they said something like this, "where have you been that you haven’t heard about Jesus’ death three days ago?” They told Him how the One they had trusted as their Saviour, as the Son of God, had been cruelly crucified, and how, after that, a" few women had seen His empty grave—but they didn’t know where He was. The Lord Jesus loved them! As they walked on together, the most wonderful part of the journey began.
