could measure his discipleship' and his growth in grâce and in the knowledge o f Christ. Judas had failed Him. In Judas we have the supreme example of “bad discipleship.” How are we to know whether we are approaching our Lord’s, standard in our discipleship? Let üs.look at some of the things which He Himself says regarding true discipleship, and ask ourselves some searching questions. For Those Who Have Topics I. ARE WE LIVING THE “ABIDING LIFE” ? (John 15:4-8). 1. “Abide in me” (v. 4). “All true service begins in personal contact with Jesus.” Do we keep the Quiet Hour? Do we look forward with delight to our tryst with the Lord Himself? “Prayer precedes true service, and produces it, and sweetens it.” 2. Do Christ’s words “abide” in us (v. 7) to the extent that we meditate upon them, love them, and obey them? II. HAVE WE. BEEN PURGED BY T H E HEAVENLY HUSBAND MAN? (John 15:2, 3). 1. What about those things that hin der (cf. Heb. 12:1)? A clean vine branch has on it nothing that would sap the strength of its usefulness—no dead leaves, no shriveled, half-devel oped buds or fruit. 1. The women brought sweet spices to preseiit to Jesus (v. 1). What have I offered to my Lord? . - 2. They arose very early in the morn ing to come to Jesus (v, 2). When is the best time and how is the best way for us to meet our Lord? •3. The women were concerned about the stone which separated them from their Lord (v. 3). Am I concerned about any “stones,” about anything that separates me from my. Lord? What are the "stones” that separate young people from the Lord today ? 4. When they reached the place where Jesus, was," they found the' stone was roHed away (cf. v. 4). How may these “stones” be rolled'away from our lives? 5. They were greeted by a young man (v. 5) who said, “Ye seek Jesus” (v. 6). Am I honestly seeking Jesus Christ? 6. “He- is risen” (v. 6). Is Jesus Christ actually alive in my ■ thinking and in my heart today ? 7. The women were commanded to go td tell of the fact that He is alive again (v. 7). Is my life and testimony bearing witness to the risen Lord ? Do people know that Jesus Christ lives to day because they see Him living in my heart? By what ways may He be shown to be alive in my heart? 8. Jesus Christ had power oyer the demon world (v. 9).; He had power over the world of nature (Mk. 4:39).; He had power over death (John 11:43,. 44).
