26. Trust Him “Behold, God Is mine helper: . . . For he hath delivered me out of all trouble” (Psa. 54:4, 7). O thou of little faith, , God hath not failed thee yet! When all looks dark and gloomy, Thou dost so soon forget. And if He’s helped thee hitherto, He will not fail thee now; How it must wound His loving heart ' To see thy anxious brow! Oh! doubt not any longer, To Him commit thy way, Whom in the past thou trusted, And is "just the same today.” 27. The Laughing of God "He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh” (Psa. 2:4): I have always been intrigued with the allusions in Scripture which speak of the laughing God. There is some thing profoundly wonderful about them, for they are peculiarly associated with the satisfaction of victory over evil . . . And the children of God are in vited to share in this laughter: “When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laugh —Selected.

ter, and our tongue with singing” (Psa 126:1, 2).—-A London Journalist. 28. Delight or Trust? “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him” (Job 13:15). Many in waiting upon the Lord find immediate delight, but this is not the case with all. A deeper sense of sin may be given to you instead of a sense of pardon, and in such a case you will have need of patience to bear the heavy blow. Ah! poor heart, though Christ beat and bruise thee, or even slay thee, trust Him; though He should give thee an angry word, believe in the love of His heart.—Charles Haddon Spurgeon. 29. Drawing Near “It is good for me to draw near to God” (Psa. 73:28). You may use a childlike confidence in coming to your Father in heaven; you may unbosom your smallest dis quietudes. With holy habit, hasten with everything to God, not merely when the weightier class of calamities op presses you, but amid the perturbations. Of ordinary life, the collisions of bus iness, the perplexities of the household, the mutations of health and spirits, nay, the clouds of the sky, which too often carry darkness into the windows of the shrinking and sensitive soul. —James W. Alexander.

SO. My Yesterdays “Thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy rereward” (Isa. 58:8). Days that l, thought dead live over again,« deeds that I deemed buried meet me on the way; be thou my rearward, 0 my God. Fill up that which my life has left behind, undo that which my life has done amiss. Repair the places 1 have wasted, bind the hearts I have wounded . . . Take up my yesterdays into Thine own golden light, and trans figure them there, . . . so shall my former self find me no more. —George Matheson. 81. “Whom the Lord Loveth” “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten” (Rev. 3:19). “Whom the Lord loveth”—oh, glorious word Holding a mystery great and pro found; This is the wheel where His vessels are shaped,

The vise where His jewels are ground; This is the fire where His silver is fined Till the bright surface reflects back His face. “Whom the Lord loveth”—tread softly, my soul, Sacred the secret and holy the place. —Annie Johnson Flint.
