Course Description: Students will learn the fundamental concepts and techniques of music production and audio recording. The course covers essential topics such as signal flow, recording equipment, microphone types and placement, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and basic mixing principles. Students will be introduced to the industry standard Pro Tools recording software and learn the basic skills necessary to capture high-quality audio, and apply sound processing techniques like equalization, compression, and effects. Through hands-on activities, they will develop skills in recording, editing, and producing music, gaining practical experience to create professional-sounding recordings.
9045Y - Music & Audio Production II Credits: 2.0 Course Credit Prerequisite: 9039Y - Music & Audio Production I
Course Description: Level II builds on the foundational skills gained from the first course, diving deeper into advanced music production techniques and audio recording methods. Students will explore more complex topics such as multi-track recording, advanced mixing and mastering techniques, sound design, and the use of virtual instruments and MIDI. The course also emphasizes a deeper understanding of Pro Tools software, focusing on its advanced features for editing, mixing, and automation, with the goal of achieving polished, professional-level recordings. Through practical projects and in-depth activities, students will refine their technical skills and develop their own production style.
