REQUIRED COURSES

5139 - CAREER & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (CFM) (.5 or 1.0 credit) (Virtual is 1.0) ECO 103 MCC - Personal Money Mgmt. This course provides students the opportunity to determine their personal interests and then research what careers they could potentially pursue based on these interests. Students also learn about financial management both on a personal and business level as well. This is an MCC dual credit course for the 1 cr. in person only CFM course; HS Teacher must be dual credit credentialed. This course does not have to be taken as a stand alone course if students take BOTH (in person) Intro to Business & Personal Money Mgmt.

5045 - ENTREPRENEURSHIP (1.0 credit) BUS 110 MCC - Entrepreneurial Studies

This course is available in a synchronous or asynchronous format. Students will learn the basics of planning and launching their own successful business. They learn how to come up with new business ideas, attract investors, market their business, and manage expenses. The course culminates with the student developing a hypothetical business plan to implement their unique venture that conforms to all applicable governmental laws and regulations. This course is dual credit with MCC as long as the HS Teacher is dual credit credentialed. Dual credit is not available when taken as a Virtual course.

5016 - COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (. 5 or 1.0 credit) CRC 125 MCC - Microsoft Office This course will provide students with the basic foundational skills necessary to successfully use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook) in a business setting. Students will learn to create spreadsheets, databases, & presentations. This course is dual credit with MCC as long as the HS Teacher is dual credit credentialed and the student takes the full 1 credit course. 5120 - PERSONAL FINANCE (.5 credit) This course introduces students to the financial world. Students develop financial literacy as they learn about the function of finance in society. They study income and wealth; examine financial institutions; learn how businesses raise capital; and study key investment- related terms and concepts. They also research how innovations have changed the financial services field.

Business Law is designed to familiarize students with the American Legal System and how it pertains to the business world. In addition, it will show students how the law pertains to commercial and consumer law, as well as contract law. Students will learn about courts and legal procedures, torts and the civil justice system as well as crimes and the criminal justice system.

5190 - DELIVERING GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE (1.0 credit) This course introduces students to the concept of service as a critical component of a hospitality or tourism business. Students analyze both good and poor customer service in a variety of contexts and through various methods. Students explore communication skills and strategies, and they use a problem-solving perspective to understand barriers to communication and good service. This course is designed to bring the real world of accounting into the classroom. It’s a means of assessing the financial health of a company. Student will learn standardized accounting procedures (assets = liabilities + owners’ equity). This will be used as the foundation to understand the basics of accounting. This course is dual credit with MCC as long as the HS Teacher is dual credit credentialed.

4024 - INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS (1.0 credit) BUS 110 MCC - Intro to Business

This course focuses on the fundamentals of businesses including organizational forms, the function of production, finance, marketing and human resources. This course is dual credit with MCC as long as the HS Teacher is dual credit credentialed and the student is taking the 1 credit HS course. Dual credit is not available when taken as a Virtual course.

Sports Management is designed to provide students with a broad and contemporary overview of the sport management field. This course will enable the student to gain an understanding of sport management as both an academic major and as a professional endeavor and is designed for students to study sport management theories, practical applications and principles.

In this course students will learn how marketers deliver value in satisfying customer needs and wants, determine which target markets the organization can best serve, and decide upon appropriate products, services, and programs to serve these markets. Students will create a marketing plan.
