5072 - Introduction to Information Technology Credits: 1.0 Course Credit Prerequisite: NA

Course Description: In this course you will be introduced to the field of Information Technology (Computer Science). You will be looking at the many ways you use IT in your own life from the Internet to video gaming to Chromebook and even cell-phones (pocket-pc’s). Each unit includes opportunities to explore using robots, drones, laptops and PC’s. On the software side, you will look behind the scenes at how humans have used the computer and software to change the world and the impact of this change on society and the future. Your potential as a video game designer, robotics master or web developer will be explored as you code in: Scratch, Minecraft, Python, and HTML.

5063 - Computer Hardware & Support Systems Credits: 1.0 Course Credit Prerequisite: 5072 - Introduction to Information Technology

Course Description: Support for PCs and mobile devices is one of the largest service industries in the world and those who are skilled in how to maintain, support and upgrade are always in demand. Anyone who is thinking of a career in computer networking, programming, or any of the computer sciences, a good foundation in computer technology make learning the other technical areas, such as networking and cybersecurity, much easier. In this course you will participate in a series of hands-on labs that lead to you building a PC from scratch, maintaining and repairing PC’s, laptops and handheld devices. Since all computers are connected in today’s world of cloud computing and Internet, skills such as setting up and troubleshooting network connections using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and server technologies will also be learned.

2576- Computer Programming I Prerequisite: 5072 - Introduction to Information Technology & 5063- Computer Hardware & Support Systems

Course Description: This course is setup for everyone so even if you have little or no programming experience, you will get an comprehensive introduction to Python, one of the top five most popular and user-friendly programming languages. Class time will consist of a mix of instruction in the basics of coding as well as in class hands-on coding exercises to practice applying these concepts. In addition, you will be enrolled in CodeHS where you will get additional independent practice creating fun mini programs that ensure you have ample opportunities to work with designing and writing computer code.

5003 - Adv. Comp. Appl. & Digital Media Design Credits: 1.0 Course Credit/ 4.0 College Credits: MCC CRC 125 Prerequisite: 5072 - Introduction to Information Technology & 5063- Computer Hardware & Support Systems

Course Description: Advanced Computer Applications: This first unit provides you with an in-depth, hands-on introduction to Microsoft Office. You will become proficient in using Word (word processing), Excel (spreadsheet), Access (database management), and PowerPoint (presentation). As this is a dual enrollment with MCC you will have a series of college level projects to complete in each of these programs. Digital Media Design: This second half of the class you will learn the basics of web design and development, while designing and creating multimedia projects for the web.

5139 - Career & Financial Management Credits: 1.0 Course Credit ECO 103 MCC - Personal Money Management

Course Description: This course provides students the opportunity to determine their personal interests and then research what careers they could potentially pursue based on these interests. Students also learn about financial management both on a personal and business level as well. This course is dual credit with MCC as long as the HS Teacher is dual credit credentialed. Dual credit is not available when taken as a virtual course.
