Central Washington University Board of Trustees July 21, 2023 ACTION – Approval of Collective Bargaining Agreement

On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, the United Faculty of Central ratified revisions to the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with Central Washington University. With the approval of the Board of Trustees, the new CBA will be in effect from September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2027.

Key changes include:

Article 18 – Compensation September 1, 2023

4% across the board increase 3% across the board increase

September 1, 2024

Article 33 – Duration of Agreement 33.2 – Reopener no later than June 30, 2025, for the purpose of negotiating faculty wages for the final two years of the contract. Either party may open up two additional Articles/Appendices of the agreement at that time. Article 10 – Non-Tenure Track Faculty 10.1 – provided a stronger commitment to not reduce NTT contracts after they are issued. 10.2 – revised the evaluation process to allow for NTT faculty to provide input during the evaluation process.

Article 12 – Department Chairs

12.2.2 – clarified chair terms. 12.3.2 – tightened up the process for removing a department chair. 12.3.3 – clarified filling temporary chair vacancies.

Article 13 – Structured Interdisciplinary Program Directors Aligned processes with department chair processes.

Article 15 – Professional Responsibilities

15.6 – added language requiring faculty work on their assigned campus.

Article 17 – Workload 17.3.4 – added language to include advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in faculty service obligations.

Article 20 – Other Leaves of Absence 20.3 – Parenting Leave
