BIBLE INSTITUTE HAPPENINGS Bequest for Prayer Friends of the Bible Institute are asked to pray definitely for the new student body and. that many other young men and women who are willing to give their lives in service may be led to the Institute for training. Mr. D. L. Foster, Student Secretary, will be glad to send literature and take up correspondence with any who may be interested. Some Institute Speakers During the last two weeks in July, closing August 3d, Dr. French JE. Oliver conducted a series of meetings under the auspices of the Bible Insti­ tute, each afternoon and evening. His general theme was “ Back to thé Bible.” Mr. William A. Aberhart, B. A., Canadian educator and prophetic Bible teacher, gave a series of lectures at the Bible Institute August 4th to 7th. Dr. L. W. Munhall, of Philadelphia, preached in the Institute auditorium several times in August. Clarence Orr, ’22, is pastor of a church in Brownsville, Oregon. Miss Esther Bnrhems, ’17, is in the homeland, on furlough from India. True H. Maxfield, ’22, is pastor of a Union Church at Central Point, Oregon. Miss Bethel France, ’24, is at present employed in the office of the Church of the Open Door: Miss Florence Butler, ’21, is teaching at Tuba City, Arizona. This is her sec­ ond year there. Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Osburn, ’20, Phoenix, Arizona, are at work among the Indians in their vicinity. Miss Birdie Gilgert, ’20, worker among the Indians at Sells, Arizona, visited the Institute while on her vacation. Miss Bertie L . Guiteau, ’22, is employed as stenographer in the office of Mr.. Hubbard, superintendent o f men. Miss lone Lowman, ’22, one . of the workers at Ganado, Arizona, spent her vacation in Los Angeles. She addressed the Lyceum Club at one of its meetings. Miss Frances L. Downs, *24, sailed from Vancouver on August 28th, for China, under the China Inland Mission; Mr. Harold Froppe, ’19, is assistant pastor o f the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Spalding and Monroe Sts., Chicago. Ernest W . Stuchbery, .’22, is serving as Assistant Superintendent of the, Shop Department of the Bible Institute/ Miss Hattie Cope, ‘22, who has been studying at Ashland College, Ashland, Ohio, is leaving soon to take up m is­ sionary w ork in Africa. Hal Miller, ’19, hds acèeptççl a choir leadership in the North Ft. Worth Bap­ tist Church, a fine evangelistic church o f 1500 or 1700 members. Miss Helen White, ‘20, has resumed the duties o f secretary t o . Mr. Foster, upon the departure of Mrs. Gaylord, who has been serving in that capacity. Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Hullng, ’19,. were visitors at the Bible Institute in August.- Mrs. Huling, form erly Mrs. Hall, was superintendent o f women at one time. Miss Em ily Alexander, ’23, one of the Bible women of the Institute,' spent her vacation at Victoria, in company with Miss Ethel Lee, another Bible woman. Mr. and Mrs. E . Carlton Dewey are liv ­ in g in Herrrion, N. Y., Mr. Dewey serving as pastor o f the Baptist church there, and of another church in a neighboring town. Miss Louise Hundernp, ’19, recently visited the Bible Institute on her way home from attending the Northern Bap­ tist convention and visiting relatives in Birmingham, Ala. A number of students have left for St. Louis, to study at Xenia Seminary, viz: Stanley Nichols, ’23, Victor Ford, ’24, Mr.
