How Demetria Is Uplifting Women in Need HER REMARKABLE FEAT OF FORMING A NONPROFIT
When life throws challenges and tragedy in your path, it can feel impossible to overcome them. I can wholeheartedly say I am astonished by the resilience and kindness a former client of mine has after all she has experienced. Demetria Henderson was once a client of mine and, after tremendous hard work, has started her own nonprofit organization: Women’s International Grail! I wanted to show my support for this wonderful organization and share Demetria’s inspirational story. Growing up in an area filled with crime and violence, Demetria and her siblings still flourished in a loving home with their great-grandmother. Yet, no child can be left unscathed by ongoing negativity and turbulence. While her great-grandmother raised Demetria with unending love, faith, and guidance, life took a turn when she passed away when Demetria was only 16 ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING ASPECTS OF MY JOB IS GETTING TO KNOW ALL MY CLIENTS, NOT JUST THEIR CASES, BUT AS PEOPLE.
years old. At this time, Demetria became pregnant and was entirely alone. With no one on her side and a child to raise by herself, life continued throwing curveballs her way (to put it nicely). Demetria experienced poverty, abuse, and depression in the years to come, and the pandemic only made matters worse. Despite the never-ending obstacles, she continued to work toward stability and safety for her children, whom she didn’t want to disappoint. This strong mother took what life gave her and used it as a valuable experience to uplift women just like her. She achieved incredible personal growth through prayer and counseling and soon developed a plan to start Women’s International Grail. She turned her life around and wanted to help women do the same! Women’s International Grail offers resources and services for women and children who need vital support during unimaginable adversity. Often, a helping hand is just what someone needs to get back on their feet. Demetria’s organization offers life-changing assistance, including:
Children and young adults can also receive support from the Women’s International Grail, like mental health resources, mentors, tutoring, clothing, haircuts, internship opportunities, and more. I can’t imagine the difference these can make in a young person’s life. The work Demetria and her team accomplish brings light into our community and even communities worldwide. After working with Demetria on her case, I feel grateful to witness her journey firsthand and see all she has accomplished. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is getting to know all my clients, not just their cases, but as people. Hoisin-Glazed Pork Chops
These savory and sweet pork chops are covered in a flavorful hoisin glaze and take only 30 minutes! Ingredients • 2 garlic cloves, minced • 4 boneless pork chops (about 2 lbs) • 3/4 tsp salt
• 2 tsp minced ginger • 1/3 cup hoisin sauce • 2 tbsp rice vinegar • 2 tbsp water
• 2 tbsp sesame oil • Cilantro (optional)
Directions 1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, simmer garlic, ginger, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and water. Whisk occasionally until mixture is fully incorporated (about 4 minutes). Set aside. 2. Lightly salt pork chops. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add sesame oil and wait until smoking. Place pork in skillet and cook until browned (3-4 minutes on each side, depending on thickness of pork chops). 3. Remove pork chops from skillet and transfer to a cutting board. Let rest for 5 minutes. 4. Drizzle hoisin mixture over pork chops and top with cilantro if desired.

As much as many of us wish we could have an endless summer, all good things must come to an end. But why let the season close with a whimper when you can go out with a bang? Strive for a memorable last few days of the season with one of these family-friendly ideas. TAKE A FAMILY ROAD TRIP. What says “summer” more than piling in the car and driving somewhere? You don’t necessarily have to go far. A new town a few hours away can still be an adventure. Check out a local state park or nearby museum you’ve always meant to visit and let your children enjoy the novelty of sleeping in a hotel room or camper. Even a weekend away will feel like an occasion and stick out in everyone’s memories. SPEND A DAY ON THE WATER. Enjoying the water is one of the summer’s greatest pleasures, so make the most of it one last time. Depending on where you live, you might incorporate this idea into your road trip. Head to the nearest beach, lake, or river and pack in as much summer fun as possible with a favorite summer activity or something new! You could help your kids build a sandcastle, rent a kayak or paddleboat, or try water skiing. You might even surf or snorkel.

You Should Always Review All Your Options CAN CAR INSURANCE COMPANIES INCREASE THEIR RENEWAL RATES? Have you noticed anything different when renewing your car insurance policy? We recently heard from various people about significant increases in their car insurance policy when it was time for renewal. Are these auto insurance companies allowed to do this? Well, when reaching out to your insurance company, you may be told the rate increase is either due to inflation or the increased number of claims in Georgia. While excuses like these are unfortunately valid, you should remember that under O.C.G.A. Sec. 33-9-40, these companies cannot raise your rates if you make a not-at-fault claim , including for your uninsured motorist coverage. If they say this is the reason for the increase or you suspect it is the case, contact our team. However, whatever other explanation they come up with will often be altogether legal but just entirely frustrating. Auto insurance companies assume you’re there to stay once you’ve signed despite the rate increases. Yet, if you have a clean driving record, you may likely find that you can save a hefty sum of money by switching car insurance companies every few years! So, take your time and shop around. It’s astonishing to see vast price differences between companies for the same coverage. When you spend time doing your research on who has the best deal, you’ll save a fortune in the long run.
While “inflation” may be a just explanation for increasing insurance rates during renewals, these companies have ways to take advantage of you illegally.
