LYMPHEDEMA&PHYSICAL THERAPY

Working hard is part of being a woman. After the long and grueling challenges of the workplace, women head home to care for their families, to care for their homes, and somehow manage to do it all while looking great and keeping a smile on their faces. Taking this into consideration, it is no surprise when a few aches and pains start to interfere with your day to day well-being. But for some women, the aches and pains are a sign of much more than just fatigue—the pain is a result of chronic swelling in the lymphatic system. When this happens, the swelling can put pressure on your entire circulatory system, interfering with blood and oxygen flow, and leaving your entire body feeling the burden of this added stress. What is Lymphedema? The lymphatic system is designed to support the rest of the bodybymanagingexcessfluidsand toxins. Itdrainsexcesswater, proteinandwaste products from your tissues, and then pushes filtered fluid back into the bloodstream, supporting circulation. This leads to added discomfort, often manifesting in aches and pains that will often spread throughout the entire body.
