Destination Montana Camp Guide

MOHAB MONTANA OUTDOOR HIGH ADVENTURE BASE

Leave your cell phone, laptops, and technology behind, MOHAB is all about trekking out into some of the most rugged wilderness in the continental United States. Based out of the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch (TRMR) and encompasses more than 6,000 acres in the foothills of the east slope of the Rocky Mountains. The property abuts more than one million acres of national forest and wilderness, the center of which is at least 20 air miles from civilization. Share the landscape with elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, cougar, grizzly and black bears, bighorn sheep and Rocky Mountain goats. The MOHAB program is designed to give Scouts the skills and experience necessary to lead future expeditions of their own. While at Basecamp, Scouts learn how to effectively plan and execute a wilderness hiking and pack- rafting trek while gaining invaluable leadership skills and safety training. Each trek is provided with trained volun- teers whose primary responsibility is to offer insight into safe decision making and effective wilderness travel. The Montana Council is thankful for the generosity of the Boone and Crockett Club for allowing access to their facility.

“ Exploring the Bob Marshall Wilderness was an opportunity to showcase my Scouting skills while learning new ones in an environment that was rigorously challenging, but also fun. ”
