A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 9
It was such a joy to see so many of our Year 9 community awarded for their achievements and engagement in lessons during our Wednesday’s celebration assembly. Myself and Mrs Dhir were incredibly impressed by their support of one another. We hope to continue this positive outlook next year as we move into our GCSEs. I want to also celebrate the Duke of Edinburgh participants whose team work, optimism and determination made the expeditions run so smoothly. I have heard from all of the staff how wonderful our Year 9 students are and I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. Overall, we want to celebrate the groups who received the most Epraise. The final totals as given in our celebration assembly were as follows:
1. 9EMU - 2912pts 2. 9PWA - 2499pts 3. 9SSR - 2175pts
Our attendance award for ‘most improved’ attendance goes to 9SSR! Great work this term on getting your attendance up.
This year I have been consistently impressed by how mature and kind our Year 9s are. You have demonstrated time and time again your enthusiasm and enjoyment of learning. There have been some wonderful highlights this year and I hope you all have some time in the summer break to reflect on your Key Stage 3 journey. When we return in September, I have no doubt that you will rise to the challenge of being in the upper school and will be eager to start your chosen options courses. Have a fabulous break!

BOOK OF THE MONTH
‘King of Nothing’ by Nathanael Lessore
I really, really really enjoyed this book! I specifically enjoyed how realistic and actu- ally quite intense it was towards the end. The characters are all written so well. For example I really like how you can tell Anton is not as bad as Kehinde from the start when he kind of defended Mathew when Kehinde was about to give him a hard time. The scene where Mathew and Anton are at a sleepover and they’re talking about his nan made me cry! It was just so wholesome and the boys’ unexpected friendship is such a lovely part of the book. I will definitely suggest this book to people in the future!
