Y10 Bulletin 11.07.25

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 10

Students have been getting on well in lessons this week, getting feedback from their recent Year 10 exams. I have been very impressed in seeing how the majority have shown real resilience during their feedback lessons, focusing on the ways in which they can improve and seeking out their teachers to ask for specific help and guidance. The Year 10 prefects have now received their prefect log cards. When students do their perfect duty they need to get this signed by their subject teacher. Once the record is completed, they can hand it in to Mrs Porteous for a new one. Each completed record will go into the prize draw at the end of each term. Lots of teachers have commented on how helpful and keen the Year 10 prefects have been so far. Keep up the good work! On Friday we had our celebration assembly. It was wonderful to see the students celebrating each other as well to recognise those that have been going above and beyond in their subjects. Congratulations to everyone who won an award. We are now in our final week of school. Students are still reminded however, of the need to abide by the uniform policy until the final day. Fake nails, eyelashes and excess jewellery are still not permitted.

This is the last bulletin of the year so I wish you all a fantastic summer break!

MRS PORTEOUS, HEAD OF YEAR 10

BOOK OF THE MONTH

‘King of Nothing’ by Nathanael Lessore

I really really really enjoyed this book! I specifically enjoyed how realistic and actually quite intense it was towards the end. The characters are all written so well. For example I really like how you can tell Anton is not as bad as Kehinde from the start when he kind of defended Mathew when Kehinde was about to give him a hard time. The scene where Mathew and Anton are at a sleepover and they’re talking about his nan made me cry! It was just so wholesome and the boys’ unexpected friendship is such a lovely part of the book. I will definitely suggest this book to people in the future!
