STONEWATER | BLUNDEN MEADOWS

Developed by industry leader Stonewater and in partnership with Speller Metcalfe, Blunden Meadows is a development of 38 homes comprising one bedroom apartments, two bedroom bungalows, and two, three and four bedroom houses in the small village of Ewyas Harold in Herefordshire’s Golden Valley, close to the Welsh border. The scheme offered a mix of affordable rent and Shared Ownership, with 14 two and three bedroom houses allocated as the latter. The development has been designed to integrate into its surroundings, with the design of the homes’ external elevations reflecting the area’s historic built vernacular. The Shared Ownership properties proved to be very popular, with the final home being occupied in November 2024. This bespoke development of character and quality contributes to and enhances the architecture and character of Ewyas Harold village. The new homes it provides will help local people to remain in the village they have grown up in, ensuring young households can stay local, supporting and delivering local services and keeping businesses and schools thriving.

PEABODY | MACFARLANE PLACE AT TELEVISION CENTRE

MacFarlane Place is an exemplar 100% affordable development, delivering 142 homes (71 affordable rent, 34 London Living Rent, 37 Shared Ownership) in White City, designed to help first time buyers and key workers on to the property ladder. With one bedroom LLR homes priced at £1,080pcm – 60% below local market rates—the scheme is accessible to essential workers earning £32,400pa, addressing Hammersmith & Fulham’s housing crisis. Every affordable rent, LLR and Shared Ownership home was allocated to residents and/or workers of Hammersmith & Fulham, reinforcing community stability. The development sets a new standard for climate-resilient design, featuring over 500 external shutters – the UK’s largest residential installation—to combat overheating. This innovative solution, combined with optimised window sizing and MVHR systems, reduces energy bills while future-proofing against rising temperatures. The all-electric scheme, powered by air-source heat pumps, achieves a Whole Life Carbon footprint of 799kg/CO2e/m², meeting RIBA 2025 targets. MacFarlane Place proves that high-quality, sustainable housing can be accessible to all.

PLUMLIFE HOMES | CENTURION VILLAGE

Centurion Village in Leyland is an iconic site given its history as the former test track for British Leyland Motor Corporation. The test track had been disused since 2005, therefore the provision of much-need housing revitalised an unproductive brownfield site, transforming it into an affordable location for a local community. A variety of house types, in the form of 14 different three and four bedroom layouts, offered variety to our customers to meet an array of family make-ups and budgets. Plumlife Homes has successfully sold 70 properties at the development, which are designed to a high specification – just one of the reasons we saw such high demand with over 750 enquiries received. Shared Ownership has made buying a new home at Centurion Village affordable. Christopher secured a 25% share in his three bedroom home and told us,“My new home has changed mine and my family’s lives for the better.”
