KING OF LEOGRANCE has a great first-up record (5:2-2-1) and is great value, SURPRISE BABY is set for a big Spring campaign. RICHARD TURNBULL Mr Richard Turnbull was Chairman of the Victoria Racing Club from 1942 until shortly before his passing in 1951. He became the first incumbent VRC Chairman to own the winner of the Melbourne Cup, when Sirius saluted in 1944. Earlier, his filly East End had won the 1942 VRC Oaks. In recognition of its stature as a major race over many years, the Turnbull Stakes was awarded Group 1 status in 2006.
