ROBOTICS EDUCATION & COMPETITION FOUNDATION

“The REC Foundation provides programs that engage and excite students about STEM and prepares them for future careers in the workforce. From Aerial Drone Competitions to land based robotics challenges and industry-leading certifications, we are proud to say that for over a decade, we have inspired millions of students around the world, one robot at a time”.

DISCOVERING HANDS-ON OPPORTUNITIES

Dan Mantz, CEO REC Foundation

At the REC Foundation, we believe that STEM learning is the key to a better future for all. Our programs place the student at the center of everything we do, allowing them to explore, discover, and challenge themselves as they gain skills that are just as valuable in day-to-day life as they are in the workplace. When you partner with RECF, it’s not just about providing resources to help students build a great robot or program the best flight path for their drone. You also create opportunities to find success in teamwork, overcome obstacles that seem insurmountable, and prepare for the future STEM workforce. Your partnership contributes more than money. Your ideas, volunteer power, in-kind support and more helps to build a stronger, more resilient global community.

MISSION AND VISION

VEX Robotics Competition

The VEX Robotics Competition is the largest middle school and high school robotics program globally. Each year, an exciting engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game. Students, with guidance from their teachers and coach, build innovative robots using the VEX system and compete to qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championship.

The Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation’s global mission is to provide every educator with competition, education, and workforce readiness programs to increase student engagement in science, technology, engineering, math, and computer science. We see a future where every student designs and innovates as part of a team, overcomes failure, perseveres, and emerges confident in their ability to meet global challenges.

Factory Automation Competition

The Girl Powered initiative is designed to make robotics reflective of the diverse world we live in. We’re committed to conveying how exciting it is to be involved with STEM, showcasing examples of how women are changing the world, providing tools for success, and enabling comfortable environments where all students’ confidence and abilities can flourish. We provide teachers, coaches, event partners, and mentors with resources to host Girl Powered Workshops which are aimed at engaging and educating young women about STEM and robotics. Girl Powered Initiative

The Factory Automation Competition (FAC) is a classroom-based competition that provides students with essential foundational skills needed for today’s advanced manufacturing careers. Students progress from education to workforce and by engaging in hands-on curriculum using the VEX V5 Workcell. The focus of this program is to offer a comprehensive and scalable competition that helps change attitudes toward advanced manufacturing careers, teach critical workforce skills, reduce the growing skills gap, and ultimately create a stable pipeline of employees.

On many reservations across the U.S., STEM education is lacking or non-existent. Education that prepares students for the technological workforce is imperative to break the cycle of poverty. The REC Foundation currently partners with native groups in Arizona, Alaska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, but there is opportunity for expansion and inclusion of many more groups. REC Foundation is committed to supporting native communities who do not have access to the robust STEM resources benefitting many areas throughout the U.S. Indigenous Robotics
