AMHF honors Alaska's pioneers
The Alaska Mining Hall of Fame Foundation (AMHF) was founded to honor men and women who found, devel- oped, mined, studied, supplied, and administered Alaska’s mineral resource industries. Through their inductions, the AMHF recognizes those that have made significant contributions to the develop - ment of Alaska as a territory and as a State. Since 1997, 130 men and women have been induct- ed into the AMHF. They include unlettered prospectors, trained geologists and mining engineers, brilliant govern- ment scientists, lawyers, administrators, educators, and journalists — and more than a few adventurous souls. The organization publishes a newsletter usually twice a year, which is distributed during induction ceremonies. The newsletter contains carefully researched biographies of the inductees and other articles. More information can be found on the AMHF website www.alaskamininghalloffame.org. The Alaska Mining Hall of Fame Foundation was formed as a State of Alaska non-profit Corporation in April, 1997. There are currently ten board members and Tom Bundtzen serves as the President of the Organization. 2022 brought sadness to the AMHF Foundation as two of our longest serving board members, Joseph E. Usibelli and Paul S. Glavinovich passed away. Both men were im- portant contributors to the AMHF over many years, with Joe working on exhibits and Paul organizing the AMA His- tory Night proceedings.
