that machinery is constantly being maintained, upgraded, moved or replaced, which also means that at some point, plant layouts will be reconfigured for better productivity. Buying and selling factors have changed faster than the leaves of a maple tree in Maine. Nick Widera, like many others who have begun careers in their family’s independent box business, began his man- ufacturing education by working summers during college. Nick graduated from Marquette University in 2008 with a business degree, moved, and immediately put his education to use in the family business in So Cal, first as an Expediter/Scheduler at CBII and later as a Sales Service Representative (SSR) at CBI. All five companies in the CB Group have their own staff of SSRs. There are 11 at CBI and CBII. Six more SSRs are on the corrugated side and two are on the packaging side at TCC and ACC, plus two at WTC. Assisting the SSRs are a group of expeditors. All SSRs are considered part of the Widera family and receive monthly performance bonuses. Two BHS 98-inch corrugators supply CB Group’s Southern California sheet plants. CONTINUED ON PAGE 34
