• Steve York will share his insights on “Lessons Learned in Maximizing Box Plant Productivity” for the opening keynote. • Michael Durant, the author and inspiration behind the movie “Black Hawk Down,” will close the show with his inspirational story of his experience as a former Black Hawk pilot and prisoner of war in Somalia. Trending Topics Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Robotics/Automation, Supply Chain Disruption, Digital Printing, Doing More With Less, and Employee Recruitment/Retention are the focus of five intensive breakout discussions during the formal learning portion of the conference. AI and robotics were first introduced as panel discus- sion topics at TAPPI’s SuperCorrExpo event in 2019 and its importance has only grown over the last three years, especially with the pandemic and increasing number ex- perienced professionals retiring, Montague said. “In addition to AI, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has introduced other advancements including remote monitoring and machine learning and they continue to evolve and change with lightning speed.” Another important and growing technology is digi- tal printing. Exhibitors with that expertise will be eager to show corrugators how they can work more efficiently, while supply chain issues are an ongoing priority for sup- pliers and producers. “Not only have prices spiked, but delays and other shipping contingencies continue to plague effective and timely deliveries,” Montague said. With the cost of skilled labor going up, D’Angelo said that efficient ways to run equipment, higher run speeds, faster changeovers, software enhancements, data and au- tomation, and remote access to troubleshoot machines is always top of mind. “Everybody is on board now with measuring and mea- suring and measuring so that they can understand all of their processes and optimize them as best they can in an environment where skilled labor is difficult to find, and if you find it, it’s difficult to keep,” he said. “It’s always been a high-tech week at Corrugated Week, but I think this one is going to be even more so.” What’s New In partnership with exhibitors, AICC and TAPPI work to create new ideas and venues to showcase their technol- ogies, products and services. The What’s New sessions were created for this very reason and this year these short, but sweet seven-minute presentations are brought back by popular demand. “It’s a great way to get a quick, concise peek at solu- tions that could improve plant productivity and efficiency,” Montague said. “What’s New gives the vendor and box maker the opportunity to share and learn about innovation in one sitting and in one place.” CONTINUED ON PAGE 50
