T he Second-Generation F-Body has long been one of my favorites and now are starting to get some respect. Designed to replace the old Camaro with a car that, even though it had GM parts-bin suspension, its long and narrow footprint was designed to lower the polar movement of iner- tia and help the car win on the track. Sue Bullis, her husband, their kids, and grandkids, are all one big happy Pontiac family. Sue always liked early Second- Generation F-Bodies. When it was time for her hus- band Al to build her a ride that would wake up their retirement, they built a Firebird that’s also got Formula and Trans Am highlights. They got lots of

help from Barry Martin and designed a thoroughly modern hot rod with all the modern conveniences, but also combining all the great early ‘70s Pontiac looks on one car. The stock chassis (unibody with a front subframe) is a weak point on these cars, but the Barry fixed everything with a full chassis from the Roadster Shop. The Roadster Shop chassis stiffens the Firebird up with a CAD-designed perimeter frame that’s braced up, down, sideways, and upside down. The SPEC chassis comes with a SPEC IFS that features tubular control arms, Fox SV coilovers, RS forged spindle/hub, power rack and pinion steering, and
