Buying ethically and responsibly Procured services should support residents and colleagues in making the changes needed to achieve sustainable lifestyles and wellbeing. Social value in contracts can be maximised in support of these goals as well as including sustainability in procurement processes. Procured services will be encouraged to make the links between residents' financial resilience (including the risk of fuel poverty) and their health and overall wellbeing, contributing to the active education and communications packages to increase resident engagement with wellbeing and environmentally sustainable lifestyle changes, as recommended in the SHIFT assessment made in 2019. For example, when looking at contractual services to maintain green space, it will be important to maximise the attraction and utility of green space for residents in order to encourage an active lifestyle. We will: • Enhance the social value of our contracts for goods and services, including encouraging our supply chain to support education and communication about wellbeing and environmentally sustainable lifestyle changes • Incorporate social and environmental assessment into our contractor selection approach
