PLANT ROOM SAFETY
SETTING A BENCHMARK FOR OTHER MANUFACTURERS, THE NEW BOILERGUARD INCLUDES A STRUCTURED MENU-BASED USER INTERFACE, ALLOWING LOCAL CONFIGURATION AND INTERROGATION… BoilerGuard from C&F Quadrant
The new BoilerGuard panel, supplied by C&F Quadrant Ltd, is setting the standard for plant room safety systems. Since the launch of its predecessor in 2017, time and technology have moved on and the new BoilerGuard continues to set the benchmark for other manufacturers. Launched in May 2026, the new system has a fresh new look on the outside that provides a modern aesthetic suitable for any installation, with features including: • Dark grey enclosure
failure or fire alarm activation. Perhaps the most advantageous feature that the BoilerGuard now includes as standard is datalogging, which allows engineers or users to view the previous 50 alarm events with a real-time date stamp for each event. Datalogging is used in a lot of industries, but hasn’t previously featured in commercial gas safety/detection systems. The benefits, however, are significant. Ongoing site issues, such as power supply problems or pressure fluctuations, are not always repeatable or easy to diagnose; therefore the datalogging function can significantly reduce the costs of call out and investigation works. As the industry has evolved, connectivity is a discussion point as a minimum, and the demand is increasing for higher levels of detail in the information provided by all systems throughout a building. However, gas safety systems have always been limited to a volt-free contact, advising if the gas is on or off. The BoilerGuard is the first system to provide full BMS integration, with an optional communications module that
allows the on-site BMS to connect to the system using either BACnet MS/TP or Modbus RTU. Over a simple two-wire network, the BMS can view the status of every input, every output, the details and levels of any connected gas sensors and remotely reset the system by writing to the object associated with the reset button. With a lot of sites, especially larger estates being fully integrated and online, the communications module allows organisations to view the status of systems across multiple buildings or sites from the comfort of their office (or home), assess the system health, see exactly what has caused any shutdowns and plan any call outs or PPM work efficiently.
• Clear, negative display • Concealed hinge system However, the most impressive
features sit on the inside. The updated BoilerGuard includes a new structured menu-based user interface, allowing local configuration and interrogation of any of the connected gas sensors, with a live view of the sensor status, calibration and end-of-life dates for each of the 24 individual channels available. Smaller modifications have also been made, such as an upgraded power supply, ability to use a push button to remotely reset the system and option to select auto-reset following a power
