Harvey Group has been awarded the M&E installation contract by Felix O’Hare & Co Ltd for a new £14.5m Innovation Centre at Southern Regional College (SRC), Newry. The 2,223sqm, two-storey facility will be located on the former site of Newry Sports Centre on Patrick Street, adjacent to the existing Newry East Campus. Designed to support the next generation of learners, the new Centre will feature advanced IT suites, science and engineering laboratories, and dedicated project-based learning spaces, creating exceptional facilities for both further and higher education. Fully funded by the Department for the Economy (DfE), the Innovation Centre is designed by McAdam Design and is scheduled to open in September 2027. Once completed, it will include purpose-built project based learning areas, collaborative workspaces and breakout zones, all designed with a strong emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency. SRC, together with officials from DfE, Felix O’Hare and Co and McAdam Design marked the official start of construction with a sod cutting ceremony in May. “We are proud to continue our valued partnership with Felix O’Hare and greatly appreciate the trust they place in Harvey Group to deliver high-quality, innovative mechanical and electrical installation solutions,” said a spokesperson for Harvey Group. “This landmark project will also contribute to local economic growth, creating apprenticeship and higher-level apprenticeship opportunities throughout the construction phase. We look forward to playing our part in delivering a facility that will benefit students, educators and the wider community for years to come. “We are excited to get started and look forward to seeing this outstanding development open its doors in 2027.” www.harveygroup.co.uk Harvey Group appointed to SRC Newry
