A Warmflow ground-source heat pump system can provide an efficient, sustainable heating solution for modern homes.
COMBINING A GROUND-SOURCE HEAT PUMP, UFH, EXTERNAL COLLECTOR AND THE WARMFLOW HP290 CYLINDER, A FUTURE-PROOF HEATING SOLUTION HAS BEEN INSTALLED IN A COOKSTOWN HOME… Warmflow delivers heat pump installation
Warmflow supported the project from the design stage through its free heat pump specification service. The installer submitted house plans to the Warmflow technical team, who then carried out the necessary calculations to accurately size the heating system and recommended the most suitable units for the property. Once the installation was complete, Warmflow returned to the site to assist the installer with system setup and commissioning, ensuring the system was configured correctly and operating at optimal performance. The completed installation now provides the homeowner with a highly-efficient renewable heating system, delivering even warmth throughout the home’s two heating zones along with a reliable supply of domestic hot water. By combining underfloor heating, a large ground collector and the Warmflow HP290 Cylinder, the system offers a future-proof heating solution designed to deliver comfort, efficiency and sustainability for years to come.
A recently-completed installation in Cookstown demonstrates how a ground- source heat pump system can provide an efficient, sustainable heating solution for modern homes. The detached property, measuring approximately 260sqm, required a heating system capable of delivering consistent comfort throughout the home, while providing a dependable supply of domestic hot water. The house was designed with underfloor heating throughout, controlled across two separate heating zones. This zoning allows the homeowner to independently manage temperatures in different areas of the property, supporting improved comfort and energy efficiency. Underfloor heating systems are particularly well suited to renewable technologies, as they operate at lower temperatures while still providing even heat distribution. This made the property an ideal candidate for a low-temperature ground-source heat pump. After researching renewable heating
options, the homeowner chose a ground- source heat pump due to the available outdoor space around the property. With sufficient land to install a ground collector, this option provided an opportunity to maximise efficiency by harnessing natural and consistent heat stored in the ground. Ground-source systems are widely recognised for their ability to deliver stable performance and high levels of efficiency throughout the year. For this project, an external collector was installed containing 1,000m of 32mm pipe, which circulates fluid through the ground to absorb natural heat energy. The large collector allows the system to extract heat consistently, ensuring reliable heating performance, even during colder periods. Inside the home, a Warmflow HP290 Cylinder was installed to provide domestic hot water storage. With a capacity of 290L, the cylinder offers plenty of hot water for a home of this size while working alongside the heat pump system.
