NRC student wins apprentice heat
Northern Regional College (NRC) Level 3 plumbing apprentice Spencer Dadley has been named North Region Apprentice of the Year. Currently working with Equans, Spencer received the award in recognition of his exceptional trade skills, strong teamwork and commitment to community engagement. Having beaten dozens of apprentices from across Northern Ireland and GB in a competitive category, he will now compete against winners from the South and Central regions for overall UK Apprentice of the Year in Leeds this July. Alongside his technical ability and dedication to his apprenticeship, Spencer was praised for his contribution outside of the workplace, taking part in local community clean-up days and serving as a guest speaker at CITB NI’s Build Your Career Bootcamp. Peter Lynch, Lecturer at NRC, said, “He has shown outstanding commitment to his apprenticeship, both in developing his trade skills and in the positive way he represents himself, the College and Equans.”

Retrofit for Kilcarn Government Offices
An extensive redevelopment of Kilcarn Government Offices in Co Meath has been completed, including installation of a highly- efficient heat pump system with PV solar panels. Upgrading the building’s energy rating from a D to A rating, the EU-funded project redesigned the building’s original façade to improve thermal performance, eliminate the need for air conditioning and reduce operational energy use. It creates a modern, energy- efficient workplace for multiple
and education, Road Safety Authority, Probation Service and the National Parks and Wildlife Services. Kevin Moran, Minister for the Office of Public Works (OPW), said, “The Kilcarn Government Offices renovation project is a testament to the commitment of the OPW to deliver fit-for-purpose office accommodation that prioritises sustainability, energy efficiency and life cycle costing. The project not only enhances the workplace environment for public servants but also contributes to Ireland’s climate action and biodiversity objectives.” www.opw.ie
