Thirty-Two Arrested On Drug Related Charges During January 2022 Throughout the first month of 2022, Law Enforcement in DeKalb County stayed busy.

On January 12, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 40 in Henagar, where they found the driver of the vehicle to be in possession of methamphetamine, suboxone, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Trandon James Clinton Headrick (22 of Pisgah) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x2) Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On January 13, Narcotics Agents executed a search warrant at a residence on Chitwood Avenue in Fort Payne. During the search,methamphetamine anddrugparaphernalia were found. Carmen Mellise Brown (44 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance. Also on January 13, Narcotics Agents were looking for a wanted subject on KC Lane in Collinsville when they encountered Calvin Jerome Williams (30 of Collinsville) and Sylvester Williams (27 of Collinsville). Both subjects were found to be on possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Calvin Jerome Williams was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Sylvester Williams was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Narcotics agents were active a in third incident on January 13 that resulted in three arrests. While executing a search warrant at a residence on County Road 125 in the Kilpatrick area for a subject that had outstanding warrants, authorities found methamphetamine, controlled medication, and drug paraphernalia. Aaron G Sutherland (21 of Albertville) and Eric Matthew Blackmon (25 of Rainsville) were charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x2), Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Robert James Cook (44 of Albertville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x3), Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (x2) and one warrant for Failure to Appear. January 13 was a busy day for DeKalb County Narcotics Agents as they arrested two additional people after executing a search warrant at a residence on County Road 58. During the search methamphetamine and marijuana were found. Brock Adam Stephens (46 of Albertville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x2), Unlawful Possession on Drug Paraphernalia (x2) and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd (x2). Brandy Gail Lankford (37 of Geraldine) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Also on January 13, 2022, the Crossville Police Department made an arrest after encountering a subject who was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Mitzi DLoweryTarvin (60 of Crossville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance On January 18, the Mentone Police Department conducted a traffic stop on County Road 89. While officers were running the subject’s information, he sped off initiating a pursuit. DeKalb County Deputies and Narcotics Agents responded to the area assisting in the apprehension. Methamphetamine was found in the vehicle. Thomas Dewayne Bailey (49 of Woodville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (x2) and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x2). On January 25, the Ider Police Department conducted a traffic stop on AL Hwy 117 in Ider. During the stop, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found. Brandon Eugene Palmer (42 of Henagar) and Stephen Michael White (49 of Soddy Daisy, TN) were both charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On January 26, State Probation Officers went to a residence on County Road 880 near High Point to conduct a home visit. They reported finding methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Rick Lee Webber (63 of Mentone) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and two warrants for Failure to Appear. In a second incident on January 26, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 117 in Mentone. Before the vehicle pulled over, the driver threw something out of the window. Methamphetamine was found where the object was thrown. Bradley David Wright (38 of Mentone) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Also on January 26, State Probation Officers went to a residence on County Road 671 near Henagar to conduct a home visit. They reported finding methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the home. Daniel David Wooten (55 of Rainsville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Probation Violation. In a fourth incident on January 26, authorities responded to a residence near DeKalb County Road 20 to follow up on an assault that had just taken place. When Narcotic Agents and Deputies made contact with Dorothea Laurel Maddox (43 of Fort Payne) they found her to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Maddox was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On January 28, Officers with the Henagar and Ider Police Departments conducted a traffic stop on Bellview Road in Henagar. Officers found the driver to be in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm. Freddy Lebron Blevins (36 of Sylvania) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Persons Forbidden to Possess Pistol.

According to DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden, 32 individuals were arrested during January on drug related charges. Authorities kicked things off on New Year’s Day when DeKalb County Deputies noticed a subject who appeared intoxicated around the Sale Barn in Kilpatrick. As Deputies performed sobriety tests, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was found on the subject. Don William McDougal (50 of Crossville) was charged with Public Intoxication, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On the same day, DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Kilpatrick area. The driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Nazario Lopez (31 of Albertville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, DUI Combined Influence and Unlawful Possession of Prohibited Beverage. In a third New Year’s Day incident, the Fyffe Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop, with the driver refusing to stop. The driver eventually came to a stop on County Road 400. During the stop it was determined the driver was under the influence and in possession of Kratom. Paul Stewart Ely (31 of Rainsville) was charged with DUI (Alcohol), Attempt to Elude, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest. On January 3, 2022, DeKalb County Deputies were on I-59 a little past exit 224 in Fort Payne, assisting in getting the interstate open due to snow and ice. Noticing a vehicle pulled onto the shoulder of the road, Deputies puled over to see if the occupant’s needed assistance. When the window was rolled down, the smell of marijuana was detected. After a search was conducted, cocaine and marijuana were located within the vehicle. Robert Hill III (58 of Trussville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On January 4, deputies responded to a call of trespassing on County Road 221 near Collinsville. When Deputies arrived, they found Megan Elizabeth Stringer (31 of Collinsville) at the residence. Stringer was taken into custody and transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where they found her to be in possession of a THC concentrate. Stringer was charged with Criminal Trespass 3rd, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and one warrant for Failure to Appear. Also on January 4, DeKalb County Narcotics Agents conducted a traffic stop on County Road 38 near Powell. During the stop, a half ounce of methamphetamine was found and as a result three individuals were arrested. Jeremy Morris (43 of Fyffe) was charged with Possession with Intent and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Shawn Michael Thomas (29 of Fyffe) was charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and one warrant for Failure to Appear. Sonya Slaton Whitten (49 of Fyffe) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x5), Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Promote Prison Contraband 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Whitten has more charges because when she arrived at the DeKalb County Detention Center, authorities found her in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, suboxone and other controlled medications. On January 5, deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 141 near Cartersville, finding the driver to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Scott Wayne Parsons (51 of Ider) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On January 6, officers with the Ider Police Department conducted a traffic stop on County Road 762 in Ider. During a search of the vehicle, methamphetamine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia were found. During the stop Billy Joel Fairbairn (38 of Pisgah) attempted to use a false name. Fairbairn was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, ObstructingGovernment Operations, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and 5 warrants for Failure toAppear. Sandra Lee Jackson (25 of Flat Rock) was also arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x2), Promote Prison Contraband 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On January 11, DeKalb County Narcotics Agents attempted to conduct a traffic stop near County Road 169 near the Shiloh community, when the driver sped up failing to stop. The driver eventually pulled in behind a residence on County Road 812, where he and two females, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The two females were caught rather quickly and taken into custody. Officers with the Ider and Sylvania Police Departments, State Troopers and the ALEA Aviation Unit all responded to the area looking for the male subject. ALEA Aviation quickly located the subject at a residence on County Road 155. Jared Lance Haggard (30 of Higdon) was charged withAttempt to Elude Police (x4), Resisting Arrest (x2), Reckless Endangerment (x2), Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x3), Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (x2), Pistol Possession Violent Felon and Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs (x2). The two females were also arrested. Emily Spoons (18 of Bryant) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Attempt to Elude Police. Morgan Lee Higdon (26 of Higdon) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Attempt to Elude Police.

Zeigler announced his candidacy for Alabama Secretary of State January 27. He recently qualified at Alabama Republican Headquarters in Hoover. The Alabama Secretary of State is an open seat since incumbent John Merrill is term-limited and cannot run for a third term. Pierce Alabama Ledger According to DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden, a Fort Payne man has been charged with Rape and a man from Valley Head has been charged with Electronic Solicitation of a Child and Sexual Abuse. Welden noted in a press release that on January 19, 2022 information was brought forth alleging a sexual relationship between an adult male and an underage female. After an investigation, Welden said that Eduardo Jimenez Juan, age 21 of Fort Payne, was charged with Rape 2nd. On January 27, 2022 authorities received a report that an underage female was allegedly being sexually abused and sexually harassed, via cell phone, by an adult male. After an investigative interview, conducted by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Investigations Unit, Dustin Lewayne Elkins, age 37 of Valley Head, was charged with Electronic Solicitation of a Child and Sexual Abuse 2nd.
