Dozen people charged in Alfred drug raid

Savage is charged with trafficking in contraband tobacco, marijuana traffic- king, trafficking in other drugs, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of marijuana. Joy is charged with drug trafficking, possession of drugs for traf- ficking, marijuana possession, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pos- session of a firearm or ammunition while under prohibition, careless storage of a firearm or other weapon or ammunition, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of the proceeds of property under $5000 value obtained by crime. Cousineau is charged with cocaine traf- ficking, trafficking in other drugs, posses- sion of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. Moore is charged with cocaine trafficking and trafficking in other drugs. Chrétien is charged with cocaine traf- ficking, trafficking in other drugs, cocaine possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of drugs for the purpose of traffic- king, trafficking in contraband tobacco, and possession of the proceeds of property under $5000 value obtained by crime. Bercier is charged with cocaine trafficking. Guerin is charged with cocaine traffic- king, cocaine possession for the purpose of trafficking, marijuana possession, posses- sion of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of property under $5000 value obtained by crime. Gil- bert is charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, Roe with drug trafficking, Forget withmarijuana trafficking, and Ethier with failure to comply with a probation order. During the raids, police seized an undis- closed amount of drugs, including mari- juana, cannabis resin, cocaine, methamphe- tamine tablets, morphine, hydromorphone tablets, psilocybin mushrooms, various items of drug equipment, contraband ciga- rettes, a bolt-action rifle and ammunition, cellphones, and a large amount of Canadian currency. Police investigation continues into the case and anyone with information which may assist officers with the file can call the Hawkesbury OPP detachment.

Police raided several homes and businesses in the Village of Alfred in amajor drug bust on April 12. Twelve people from around the Alfred-Plantagenet Township area and also fromOttawa and fromGrenville, Qué- bec were arrested and now face numerous charges related to the raids. The search-and-seizure operation was the finish of a year-long investigation. Arrested and charged are: Jimmy Borris, 60, Stephen Joy, 61, Benoît Cousineau, 37, Tara LynnMoore, 36, Lynne Bercier, 43, Phi- lippe Gilbert, 25, Douglas Roe, 68, and Bruce Forget, 39, all of Alfred, Paul Savage, 63, and Chantal Chrétien, 45, both of Treadwell, and Patrick Ethier, 24, of Ottawa, and Genevieve Guerin, 33, of Grenville, QC. Chrétien, Bercier, Guerin, Gilbert, and Roe were released and are now scheduled for the May 10 provincial court session in L’Orignal. Ethier and Forget were both released and turned over to the Gatineau andMontréal Police Services.They also are scheduled for the May 10 provincial court session in L’Orignal.
