Wow what a year it has been in the cattle industry. As seedstock producers, witnessing our customers achieve success in their operations is truly the most rewarding experience! As we prepare for this years sale, we still maintain our goal of raising cattle that are powerful, profitable and practical. In this industry it is easy to chase numbers, but we try and maintain balanced EPDs that will provide growth along with keeping maternal traits in check. If you don’t have a great cow, you don’t have a great program. We continue to work on this year after year. Nutrition is top priority when developing our bulls. We work closely with our Purina Nutritionist to develop them to look the part sale day, while keeping longevity a priority. As you look through the catalog you will see some familiar genetics, that are proven to work in about any condition. You will also see some new and exciting pedigrees. Hollywood really needs no introduction, but if you haven’t heard he was the $400,000 bull at Pieper’s sale in 2022. We were lucky enough to see him at stud in Nebraska, and liked him enough to invest in some embryos. We are excited to have two of his sons in this offering. We added Confidence 3089 to our bull battery in 2024. We partnered with 6 Mile Red Angus on him and have never looked back. Not only are his sons good, we have some outstanding females in the lot at home. We are excited about the genetic opportunities with this bull. We had been on the lookout for a Maximus son and found one we really liked at Piepers sale in 2024. Duramax 3167 brings some birthweight back, with good growth and length. Another new bull we used, through AI, is BCRED All Around. We have been on the hunt for a Complete 7000E son and the mating of Complete with PIE Bonne Bell 852 was exciting. Please make arrangements before the sale to view them. GENOMIC TESTING: All Red Angus bulls have been GGP-uLD tested for increased accuracy EPDs and parent verification. With the new EPD calculations through the BOLT software, EPDs are updated weekly. The new system provides more accurate genetic selection tools, however there was a shift in the averages of some EPDs, especially CED. With that in mind, please note the breed rankings of each sale bull listed in the line under his EPDs to assist in your bull-buying decisions. If you are farther than 300 miles, we will work with you to make arrangements. We will assist you in any way we can to get the heifers to your place. We would like the heifers to be picked up by the end of February. A breeding soundness exam will be done in April when the weather allows and deliveries will start shortly after. If a bull is proven unable to breed from that exam, buyer will be given a full refund of purchase price, credit in next year’s sale, or a replacement bull of equal quality as acceptable to buyer. COMMERCIAL HEIFERS
We are excited to be offering this top set of replacement heifers. We have been raising Red Angus cattle for over 25 years, and these heifers are a product of many years of genomic testing. We cull our cow herd for disposition, reproduction, quality of udders and feet. Herd sires are selected with a balance of both maternal and paternal EPD’s. Good disposition, good feet and easy fleshing are a must when selecting these sires, and the heifers will reflect that. Heifers are cake broke. We start calving early February and wean the calves in Mid-September on a 42 MG Cal ration. A - TEBELIUS RANCH; BOWDEN, ND OPEN COMMERCIAL HEIFERS 40 HEAD LOT 70 Once again we are honored to bring in some top quality open commercial heifers from our customers. We have either been out and looked at the heifers, or have fed them here at our ranch, and are confident that they meet the quality we can stand behind. Each producer has a little something different to offer, from more powerful types of heifers, to moderate framed low maintenance kinds, so there should be something for everyone. All of the females will be vet checked open and breedable prior to the sale and will be current on all vaccinations including their first round of Preg Guard. The Dry Creek Ranch, Bar Diamond Bar, and Johannas heifers are currently being fed here at Wasem Red Angus and the Tebelius and Dassinger heifers are at their respective ranches for viewing. Videos of the heifers will be available closer to sale time and can be seen on our website WasemRedanguscom and DVauctioncom. None of the heifers will be at the sale facility on sale day. We encourage interested buyers to make arrangements to view the heifers prior to sale day We would like the heifers to be picked up by the end of February as we will need the pen space for calving.
The heifers are developed on a 25-acre pasture close to home. They have been bangs vaccinated and have 840 USDA EID tags. They have also had their 1st pre- breeding shot of Bovishield Gold FP5 VL5. They have been confirmed open and sound for breeding and are ready to go to work in any environment. Sires of heifers include sons of Merlin, Brunswick, Hard Drive, Lookin Cool, Asset, Franchise and Relentless. The steer mates sold in Mid Nov 2024 averaging 855 pounds, these heifers will be averaging 850 pounds at time of delivery in Mid-March.

COMMERCIAL HEIFERS
B - DRY CREEK RANCH OPEN COMMERCIAL HEIFERS 15 HEAD Max & Haley Robison along with their two boys, Max Odell & Hayes, own and operate Dry Creek Ranch. They have been raising both registered and commercial Red Angus cattle for the past 12 years near Amidon, ND. They aim to produce a low maintenance animal that will thrive in any environment thrown its way. Their goal is to develop moderate but practical
C - DASSINGER RANCH OPEN COMMERCIAL HEIFERS: 30 HEAD cattle that are structurally correct, good footed, and easy fleshing. They also rely heavily on docility and cull any animals that do not meet that requirement. This set of heifers are early-mid April calves sired by WSM Seneca 1099J, WSM Seneca 2048K, and 7VRA Tyson 0722. The heifers were weaned November 1st and have been developed at Wasem’s since mid-December. They are current on all vaccinations, including bangs and first round of Preg-Guard. We have been raising Red Angus cattle since the late 1990’s. Our cowherd has been home-raised for several generations, except for a few registered cows purchased as heifers. We begin calving heifers in early March with the cows starting about March 20th. These heifers were weaned on October 30th and fed a mixture of chopped hay and silage, with a few pounds of a mixture of corn and distillers grain from Steffan Feeds along with Vigortone mineral. They also had access to long stem grass hay. We select bulls for balanced traits and try to avoid any extremes. We purchased our first bull from Wasems about 10 years ago and they have stood out for disposition and longevity. DNA samples have been collected on a select group of heifers for the past seven years and processed using the Red Navigator and Neogen programs through
the Red Angus Association. Results of these tests were above average in maternal, growth, and carcass traits. This is a quiet group of heifers that is easy to handle. For the past several years, we have used bulls from Wasem Red Angus, Heart River Red Angus and Dry Creek Red Angus. The heifers are up to date on all vaccinations. We felt it fitting to lead off our 2026 sale with a stud of a Playmaker son. He’s been one that’s been on our radar all summer while touring pastures. Our first set of Playmaker daughters will be in production this spring and they are looking the part of being some easy keeping powerful females. Another new sire we used AI that we tried to purchase a couple of years ago but fell short to ABS Global. Eastwood 5037 come to us with a masculine profile with a big hip and rib and has a solid base to him. When we look at this guy and on paper, he is balanced well across the board until we get to the carcass side of things and he excels in most of those traits. Like it or not, our industry is demanding bigger carcasses that will also grade well and this is the guy that will move a program forward without sacrificing maternal or performance strength.

This is our first set of calves offered from our new herd sire Duramax, that we purchased a couple years ago from Pieper Red Angus. Jolyn’s favorite bull and is another new sire we used AI. We were in search of a Complete son that was out of a great cow and found one in All Around 232k, whose dam Bonne Bel 852 produced the $150K Captain 057 bull. This dark red fella is an eye catcher as you look across the pen and has great muscle shape and width of body and weaned off at 775 pounds. His dam 896F has a 364 day calving interval, a MPPA of 104 on 6 calves of which have been all bull calves so far but are happy to see that she will finally be giving us a Cadillac 3289 heifer this spring.
