Helena Vallée-Dallaire is a contemporary visual artist trained in the classical tradition of the Old Masters. Vallée-Dallaire studied at Studio Escalier in France, the Angel Academy of Art in Florence and the Grand Central Atelier in New York, later completing an MFA at the New York Academy of Art in 2018. Vallée-Dallaire’s practice investigates how personal narratives and convictions form through experience, memory and influence. Current works synthesise personal events, art history and observation into compositions of ‘selective memory’, placed in dialogue with multimedia including recorded interviews, generative AI images and written texts.

Artwork Introduction
The Kiss I and II , encompasses memories of many kisses: gradually getting closer, sometimes feeling remote, and at times showing different versions of the self and meeting again in this way. Paintings by Goya, Da Vinci and Masaccio were used as references to create the composition and layers.
The AI-generated image responded to the prompt: ‘Please create a photograph that could have been the reference for this painting’.
