Qiuxiang Liu (Rainy Tong) is a London-based painter with an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art. Liu’s practice centres on the female body and extends across painting, sculpture, installation, performance and poetry. Liu paints the female body in bold entanglements, exploring beauty, gender and identity fluidity. Current work draws on the poetic act of blossoming, constructing playful and vibrant female forms that carry mystery, rupture and adventure. Moving towards abstraction and material experimentation, Liu challenges traditional norms and seeks to liberate the female body from fixed historical or cultural positions, rendering the invisible visible.
Artwork Introduction The Seductress consists of two panels. Five headless female bodies intertwine and overlap, appearing smooth, faceless and boneless, forming a gender-fluid, flesh-and-blood body landscape. Through the communication of the body itself, the work creates a dialogue between beauty and desire.
