ArtEvol 2025 / Cesare Lucchini
Venti di Guerra , 2025 Oil on canvas 98 × 157 cm
Cesare Lucchini is a Swiss-Italian painter born in Bellinzona in 1941. After graduating from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan in 1965, he lived and worked in Milan until 1988. Subsequently, he spent time in Düsseldorf and Cologne before settling in Lugano, where he continues to paint today. Lucchini’s artistic practice is characterised by a dynamic interplay between figuration and abstraction. His expressive brushwork and rich colour palette evokes a sense of urgency and emotional depth, often addressing themes of human suffering, war, and existential crisis. His works are not intended to be documentary but are imbued with a lyrical and emotively charged quality that seeks to convey the gravity of contemporary issues.
