Mark Kendrick is a fine art photographer specialising in abstraction. Through experimental techniques of controlled camera movement, Kendrick reduces entire scenes to their essential elements of light, shadow and colour. The resulting images create worlds that feel both instantly recognisable and strangely unfamiliar. Rooted in an exploration of memory and familiarity, Kendrick’s work invites viewers to reconsider perception, capturing the subtle tension between what is seen, remembered and imagined. Pirouette 105 reflects on the power of imagination, where experiences, stories and dreams come together to fill in the blanks. Part of the Pirouettes series, the work celebrates the subconscious, allowing it to take over and occupy the space left by the removal of detail within the scene. The piece invites each viewer to let the subconscious lead, transporting them to a world that is not really there.
Marlon Tabone is a Maltese artist whose practice combines digital mixed media, automation and chance. His work frequently engages with themes of identity, which play a central and formative role in his artistic approach. Tabone’s academic background in Maltese political history and international relations, gained at the University of Malta, further informs and strengthens this connection. In Absentia is a generative installation that continuously reprocesses archival material, media coverage, testimonies and public records linked to unresolved political violence in Malta. It produces evolving statements from fragmented sources, forming an archive that survives as a vigil looping upon itself. Just as water erodes stone over time, memory gradually unsettles what appears unyielding.
Marta Rekawek is a London-based conceptual designer and textile artist from Poland. Working with textiles, found objects and discarded materials, Rekawek explores texture, form and their relation to the environment. Guided by zero-waste principles, the practice reimagines material value and transformation, seeking to challenge perceptions of permanence. INTERTWINED is a textile sculpture that represents the fleeting yet powerful nature of dreams. Vibrant colours and layered textures suggest the fluidity of imagination, where shifting hues resemble memories dissolving upon waking. The softness of the material contrasts with its dynamic presence, embodying both delicacy and vitality. Through this interplay, the work reflects how dreams extend beyond the subconscious, momentarily spilling into lived reality and shaping perception.
