HERALDS OF ANTICHRIST A writer in “ The Life of Faith” has the following to say about Bolshevism: Bolshevism is a military autocracy, its leaders, in the name of liberty, are tyrants of the deepest dye, they are ut terly lawless, for they have trampled on the commands of God and man, they have stamped out the principles of jus tice and morality, they have let loose the evil passions of corrupt nature. They have made war on the rich, yet they have amassed great fortunes them selves. Their followers have perpe trated unspeakable horrors and cruel ties. Bolshevism is manifestly inspired by the powers of darkness. The “ Reds” seek to annihilate all religion. They are the heralds of Antichrist, who will deny the Father and the Son (1 John ii:22). He, who is “ the Lawless One,” must be very near now; his coming cannot be long delayed, and if Antichrist is near, our Lord’s coming must be nearer still! Bolshevism is an international move ment, its agents are in all countries, the seeds are sown in our own land, but the harvest is not yet reaped. “ The sea and the waves” are “ roaring,” the nations are like a troubled ocean. God’s ancient people, the Jews, are turning their faces Zionwards, and Jerusalem is becoming a Jewish city. It has now a daily Jewish newspaper, and it is ceasing to be “ trodden down of the Gentiles.” The “ things” of which our Lord spake are beginning to come to pass. We “ see the day approaching;” Christ is “ nigh even at the doors.” For Him may we “ wait with patience, wait till the night is o’er,” and the Bright and Morning Star appears. A MAN FROM THE NORTH Leon Trotsky, the Soviet leader, is quoted as saying, “We will have the whole world under our system within five years.” He has persuaded millions of people that he is the “ Man from the North” who is to rule the world.
part of some who have heard the gospel, as we see at home. Notwithstanding material progress and enlightenment that is coming to her in many ways, one sees no hope for China apart from the salvation that was purchased by and is in our Lord Jesus Christ. Albert L. Wyke, pastor at Forsyth, Mo.; writes us: “Just had a telegram from my wife who is at her home in Scottaale, Pa., saying A. L., Jr. born Sunday (April 4).” R. V. Whealy, *17, is in the evangelistic field. He has been holding meetings for one of the Baptist churches of Long Beach. Fenton E. Weller, ’15, was ordained in February by the churches of the S. J. V. Baptist Associa tion at Strathmore, Calif., where he is now settled as pastor. M. H. Reynolds, vice president of the Alumni Association requests that all members of the association send in their reports to him at once. Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Lantz, *19, are in Mennonite Mission work, 7204 Moneta Ave., Los Angeles, and desire the prayers of former students. Dr. Dixon of the Institute ^faculty has been busy in Conference work. His schedule up to August 12 is as follows: May 8 to 16, Athens, Ga.; May 22 to June 6, Greensboro, N. Car.; June 7 to 10, London, Ont.; June 12 to 18, Ridgecrest Students Conference; June 20, Chicago; June 22 to 25, Buffalo, N. Y.; June 26 to July 4, Toronto; July 6 to 11, New York; July 13 to 29, Montrose Ministers Institute; July 30 to August 8, Mont rose Bible Conference; August 10 to 12, Hersha, Pa., conference; August 14 to 21, Ridgecrest Con ference. VERY HUMAN A Chicago dispatch says at a meet ing of 150 Methodist ministers there on March 15th, a resolution was passed asking the abolition of paragraph 280 from the general laws of the church. This law forbids ministers attending theaters, dances, card parties, etc. It was argued that the law keeps many good men from entering the ministry and that Methodist ministers are human and appreciate the enjoyment of thea ters and things. No reference was made to the words of John, “ If any man love the world the love of the Father is not in him.”
