Another year has come and gone, and we are thankful for each and everyone of you that have shown interest in our program and entrusted us with the genetic improvement of your herd. It has been our family’s intention for 3 generations to build cattle that move the beef industry forward, adding profit for every segment, because if one does not survive the whole system suffers. Over the past few years, it has become more evident to me the need for specialized genetics for different scenarios, i.e. maternal and terminal lines. The results of this thought process really showed up in this year’s bull offering. If you run a terminal program where you buy your replacement females, the big frame ATM bulls will sire calves that crush the scales at weaning and finish with massive end weights. There are also bulls, and many of the bred heifers that are extremely maternal in their makeup, keeping cow efficiency and fertility at the forefront. I often wrestle with myself because to some extent, there is a lack of consistency in our herd, but when the buyers come to the sale and put together a set for themselves of like type and kind that fit perfectly with their goals, I am reminded that the goal is consistency of YOUR calves.
