Woman assaulted in shower A 29-year-old man has been charged after a woman was assaulted several times at a Hampden Street, Hawkesbury apart- ment building on the evening of Decem- ber 13. An intoxicated man had assaulted his girlfriend on multiple occasions, re- ports the Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police detachment. The mother of two was choked multiple times and beaten in her bathroom as she was taking a shower. During the attack, the man told his victim that he would kill her, say police. The 26-year-old woman escaped the grasp of her boyfriend and was able to run outside to call for help. Police quickly in- tervened and arrested the attacker. The man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and overcom- ing resistance to commit an indictable of- fence. 23 charges In the week of December 10th to De- cember 17, the Hawkesbury Ontario Pro- vincial Police detachment responded to 187 occurrences and laid 23 charges. Officers investigated three assaults and eight thefts, and laid one impaired driving charge.

ALEXANDRIA |Two men have been charged in connection with two separate break-ins in Alexandria recently. Jonathan Hall, 24, and Andrew Ross, 23, both of Alexandria, face two counts of break, enter and theft. Hall was also charged with possession of a controlled substance after a small quantity of mari- juana was found on his person, relates the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Prov- incial Police detachment. The charges were laid following burglaries at homes that were undergoing renovations. Both were released and scheduled to appear in Alex- December 15, at approximately 9 p.m., while conducting a traffic stop on County Road 10, North Glengarry, SD&G O.P.P. of- ficers charged William Hambleton, 50, of North Glengarry, with impaired driving. He is scheduled to appear January 9 in Alexan- dria court. Fraud alert Over the last few days, the SD&G O.P.P. detachment has received three reports of fraud/scam incidents from area citizens. In one scheme, referred to as an “Emergency Scam,” the suspect claims to be a relative who is in trouble and requires money for assistance. The other two reports, referred to as “overpayment scams,” are where over- payment for goods is sent to the victim with the instructions to send the suspect the difference by way of cash transfer – andria court February 6.
