ShelterPro® Chimney Systems Product Guide

ShelterPro Class A Chimney

Installation

3 Determine the number of Chimney lengths required. ShelterPro Chimney lengths are avail- able in 36”, 24”, 18”, 12”, and 6” lengths. The chimney must extend at least 3 feet above the highest point where it passes through the roof surface and at least 2 feet higher than any part of the building within a horizontal distance of 10 feet.

If the Chimney extends 5 feet or more above the roof, you must install a Universal Roof Guy Kit. Install first Wall Band 3 feet aboveWall Support, and add oneWall Band every 8 feet there after. Tee requires a chimney length to go through the wall, and it must extend a minimum of 3” into the room.

Min. 3 ft.

Attic Insulation Shield

Firestop Radiation Shield (Joist Shield) must be installed when the chimney passes from a lower living space into an upper living space. Note: You must enclose all sections of the chimney when it passes through accessible living areas. ShelterPro chimney requires ONLY 2”of clearance to combustibles.

NOTE: When calcu- lating the installed length of your chimney subtract 11/8” for each joint and include the height require- ments as shown in this illustration.

A minimum of 9” clearance from the Ceiling/Wall is required when using DoubleWall Black Stove Pipe or 18”SingleWall Stove Pipe.

4 Choose the proper Roof Flashing required for your installation. To determine which Roof Flashing you require, work out the pitch of your roof. 0/12 - 6/12 Roof Pitch = SHP*AAF (Low Slope) 6/12 - 12/12 Roof Pitch = SHP*AF2 (Steep Slope) NOTE - for Metal Roofs use: Dead Soft Aluminum Base Flashing - SHP*TDSF

ROOF FLASHING SELECTION CHART

To calculate your roof pitch use two 12” rulers to mea- sure the number of inches (A) from the end of the other ruler down to the roof.

For example, if (A) equals 3”, then the roof pitch is 3/12.

CHIMNEY OFFSET CHART

5 Calculate the offset for Ceil- ing Support Installations. If an offset is required to avoid rafters or other obstructions, measure the horizontal distance required and the vertical height available. Then refer to the Chimney Offset Chart in order to determine which Elbows and Chimney Lengths are required.
