Ockenden, the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, held Iona’s Damika Martinez, the MAAC Player of the Year, to just four points on 2-for-9 shooting from the field and four turnovers. Marist finished with 24 assists on 26 made field goals, including one on each of the first 17 baskets. Marist ended the season with an overall record of 26-7.

TOURNAMENT RECAP

The Red Foxes went on to face Michigan State in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament. After an 11-0 run to pull Marist within one point with 16:24 to play, the Red Foxes dropped a 55-47 decision to the Spartans. Casey Dulin finished with a team- high 13 points, including going 3-4 from three-point range. Sydney Coffey was also in double figures with 12 points, going 2-3 from three-point range, 4-4 from the free throw line and five rebounds. Elizabeth Beynnon and Emma O’Connor each scored seven points. O’Connor also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and handed out three assists. Leanne Ockenden hit two of her three three-pointers and finished with six points holding Michigan State’s leading scorer Klarissa Bell to just two points. Marist ended the season with an overall record of 26-7. The Red Foxes reached the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in program history, and eighth consecutive year.
