From concept… to pattern… to finished garment
There’s a close-knit team who create every new collection. As you read this, we are well into planning for 2025 with Spring and Summer season underway. Our in-house design team, with Head of Design Sandra, kick-starts the process by bringing together initial concepts. Inspiration comes from the every day, whether it’s from the Cumbrian countryside which we call home; trade fairs, competitor shopping or simply ‘people watching’ - all of this goes into the mix when creating the collection. Jenni, Nicole and Helen are our talented garment technologists who translate Sandra's concepts into reality. Back in the day, two of them studied clothing, fashion design and manufacturing at The Scottish College of Textiles and are expert pattern cutters. All have an in- depth knowledge of fabric technology. 1
Our focus is on offering exclusive designs that you won’t find elsewhere. Working with several specialist family- run manufacturers across the UK and Europe, we produce our range in relatively small production runs, a fraction of what would be produced for High Street stores. Our Sewing team, a quintet who collectively have over 65 years of service at Country Collection, produce over 200 samples per season. These garments are used on photoshoots and help with specifying our requirements before we go into production. We are always working on creating new designs; however, we do welcome your feedback on our core styles; such as our merino knitwear and sandown trousers, as we are always seeking ways we can improve our customer favourites.
