Outdoor Management
It prefers a well-ventilated, sunny environment, but will also grow well in some shade. A gentle breeze or rain will refresh the plants. In summer, the sun can be strong and dry, so be careful.
It is important to ensure that it has sufficient sunlight and ventilation. Avoid places where it will be directly exposed to the air conditioner or in a closed room where the temperature can get extremely high. Exposing the plant to outdoor air or rain from time to time will help it to feel refreshed and grow healthier.
Indoors Management
It doesn't like dryness, so be careful not to let it run out of water. The guideline for watering is once a day. However, if the soil is not dry, there is no need to force yourself to water it. Observe carefully and make a judgment.
Watering
Fertilizer is effective in helping the plant grow healthier. liquid fertilizer can be applied. Refer to instructions on the bottle.
Fertilizer
Especially during the season when new buds appear, spider mites and aphids may appear. If they do appear, deal with them as soon as possible with an effective insecticide. You can also use neem or other insecticides to keep insects away on a regular basis.
Pests & Diseases
Soil
Generally, Akadama is used alone or mixed with Kanuma soil or leaf mold.
Repot approximately once every 2-3 years. If the soil in the pot rises or you see many roots coming out from the bottom of the pot, it's a sign that the roots are well developed inside the pot. When repotting, cut the roots by about 1/3 and organize them. Gardenia is a warm-climate plant, so the best time to repot is early spring or during warm weather.
Repotting
Prune to make the outline neater. If the growth is good, the tree will branch out at the pruning points. Once the number of branches is sufficient, prune the unwanted branches. Be sure to cut off any sprouts that grow vigorously from the base of the trunk. If left alone, they will continue to grow. It is a very hardy tree, so even if you cut it incorrectly, it will sprout again.
