WELCOME TO TAYLORS TOTS Welcome to Taylors Tots Nursery, provider of excellence in early years care and education for children aged between 3 months and 5 years. Creativity and nature are at the core of our curriculum, which is centred around the natural desires of children to explore and learn through play. We have created a unique setting and aim to achieve the highest standards, whilst providing an exceptional place for children to come and take their formative steps.

The story of Taylor’s tots begins when Sharon Taylor, the nursery owner and director, was on maternity leave whilst working for West Midlands police. At the time she had a seven month old daughter and was planning on her return to work, but only to be stopped by one major factor. Childcare. Sharon had scoured the area for miles for a suitable nursery to place her daughter in, but she felt no nursery she had visited met her expectations, and she was not prepared to leave her daughter in just “any nursery “ Sharon felt that there was a lack of choice, and nowhere gave her a sense of warmth and utter security in knowing her daughter had a home from home caring and nurturing environment, as well as a clean hygienic space. From her disappointment in finding no place suitable to leave her daughter, Sharon made a rather dramatic decision, she left the police force started her childcare degree and made it her mission to create an all encompassing private day care nursery that would give mothers and families relief in knowing their most precious children, would not only be looked after to the highest level, but create a place for young individuals to flourish and become intensely enriched with love, empathy, knowledge and life skills.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our relationships. We understand that when we develop a genuine relationship with a child that we can obtain a deep understanding of their individual learning needs and true passions. Our early years educators start by becoming a learning companion and seeing the world through the child’s eyes. Through play, the educator and children work together to find solutions to problems, make sense of concepts, extend stories or evaluate activities. Both adult and child contribute to the thinking, which develops and extends using existing understanding. This ‘co-educator’ and ‘co-researcher’ approach supports synaptic growth (long-term memory) and creates powerful learners and problem-solvers. The strategies used by the educator include open questioning, role or social play and role modelling. The interactive dialogue and communication can aid, develop and support; language acquisition, vocabulary, symbolic representation skills, articulation and expression. It also importantly develops self-confidence, independence and curiosity, which empower children to learn. We recognise that language and communication are vital in all areas of a child’s development and provide a rich language environment, where conversations, singing and sharing stories also become a regular part of the children’s day. Our bespoke child-centred approach to planning allows your child to delve further into existing interests, discover new curiosities and develop their creativity and imagination, thus developing interpersonal skills, building resilience and becoming critical thinkers. It starts by taking the individual interests of the child and placing it at the centre, then branching out and planning a complete range of activities, quality real-life experiences and interactions, linked to the 7 areas of learning and development. These experiences provide a secure and memorable foundation for all children as well as embed a positive disposition towards life- long learning.

Parents can download the app via Android and Apple devices. Parents will be able to track their Childs day, activities, food and sleeps as well as all developmental progress. You can also contact management and all staff members at any point in time.

The app allows us to keep in contact with you about all your child's needs throughout the day. This ranges from food, naps, activities, learning journals, nursery magazine and a 24/7 direct line to the management ready to answer any queries you may have.

Learning Language and Loving It is an in-service education program that our nursery provides. We are trained and equipped with practical and interactive strategies for building the social, language and early literacy skills for children in their early years. The program’s three-pronged approach aimed at prevention, intervention and enrichment, helps us to ensure that every child in the classroom receives the support they need – including those with language delays and those who are second-language learners.

Our strategies

Child-oriented strategies – These strategies encourage children to initiate and engage in conversational interactions so that educators can respond in ways that encourage the child’s continued engagement in the interaction. Interaction-promoting strategies – These strategies encourage extended individual and group conversations between adults and children. Language-modelling strategies – These strategies expand the child’s oral language skills and facilitate the development of decontextualized (or abstract) language. 1) Prevention of Language Delays for children at risk and second- language learners; 2)Early Language Intervention for children with language delays; and 3) Language Enrichment for all conversational styles and stages. Our aim

Taylors Tots Nursery works in accordance with the 'Early Years Foundation Framework' which forms that basis of the curriculum for children from birth to 5 years. This is a statutory requirement that all nurseries, preschools, childminders and reception classes must follow. Aligning ourselves with the EYFS helps the nursery set the relevant standard of learning, development and care, as well as supporting an integrated approach to early learning and care within the Nursery Setting. The Early Years Foundation Stage is made up of four specific themes: These themes underpin all the EYFS guidance....... 1) The framework states that every child is unique, who are constantly learning, and that they can be resilient, capable, confident and self- assured. 2) By supporting the children and building positive relationships with them, they can learn to be strong and independent. 3)Children learn and develop successfully when placed in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs, and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and carers. Children develop and learn in different ways. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Currently, eligible working parents of 3- and 4-year-olds can access 30 hours of childcare support. Eligible working parents of 2-year-olds are also now able to access 15 hours childcare support. FromSeptember 2024, 15 hours childcare support will be extended to eligible working parents with a child from 9-months-old. Applications are now open. FromSeptember 2025, support will reach 30 hours for eligible working parents with a child from 9- months-old up to school age.

Safeguarding

At Taylors Tots

Safeguarding the children in our care is of paramount importance to us. More detailed information can be found in our safeguarding children policies, procedures and guidelines. However, we would like to draw your attention to our responsibilities within this. All children have the right to grow up in a safe, secure and nurturing environment. They should feel comfortable that their individual needs will be met and not live in fear of harm or neglect. In the event that we have concerns regarding your child, we will act upon them. Any staff member who has a concern will raise it with the nursery safeguarding co- ordinator. Confidentiality will be maintained as far as possible. However, the degree of confidentiality will be governed by the need to protect your child. All staff in the nursery are aware of their responsibilities regarding safeguarding children and receive regular training in safeguarding children. To ensure that our staff are suitable to care for your child, they all undergo disclosure and barring service checks prior to being allowed unsupervised access to the children. These checks are updated every three years. In addition, no member of staff is permitted to commence employment until two satisfactory written references have been obtained.

Emma is so attentive and always kept us updated with M***l’s day to day in the nursery. M***l seemed so settled and comfortable around Emma and it was lovely to see. I was always very hesitant about putting her into childcare but we were supported every step of the way and I can’t thank Emma enough for all the hard work she has put in. M***l has flourished with Emma’s care and I am truly grateful, thank you so much!” - A current parent at Taylors Tots
