Dear Shangri-La Family, I am truly excited to connect with all of you in this month's employee newsletter, reflecting on the achievements and initiatives that made Q3 such a remarkable period for us. As always, our collective efforts continue to define who we are—united and committed to growth and excellence. We kicked off the quarter with the Learning About Learning workshop, a wonderful opportunity to delve into new ways of growth, ensuring that development remains at the core of everything we do. Another milestone that stands out is the JLP graduation, where we celebrated the dedication and hard work of our colleagues who completed this prestigious program, setting new benchmarks for success. In keeping with our values of sustainability and community, the plantation drive was an inspiring initiative, where many of you joined in to plant the seeds of a greener tomorrow. It's a powerful reminder that every small act of care can contribute to lasting change. The Job Fair at NDS was another significant moment, as we connected with potential new members of the Shangri-La family. It was energizing to see so much talent and enthusiasm for joining our incredible team. Similarly, our 19th anniversary celebrations allowed us to pause and appreciate the journey we've traveled together, honoring our rich history. These initiatives—whether focused on personal growth, fostering team spirit, or celebrating our shared culture—truly highlight the incredible strength and resilience of our Shangri-La family. I am immensely proud of all we have accomplished together and encourage everyone to keep supporting one another, seizing new opportunities, and driving our collective success forward month after month. Despite the ongoing refurbishment at SLND, we proudly maintain our No. 1 ranking in the MEIA region for BSC and have successfully achieved our revenue benchmarks. As we step into a new season with renewed enthusiasm, we eagerly look forward to celebrating our achievements at the Colleague Annual Appreciation Gala Evening in January 2025. As we enter the festive period, let's continue to build on the momentum, preparing ourselves for a busy yet exciting season filled with creative moments and exceptional guest experiences.

New Hire Oreintation

New Hire Orientation—a comprehensive and engaging introduction to our world of luxury hospitality. It’s not just about the job; it’s about immersing our new team members in our values, our mission, and the exceptional experiences we create for guests, ensuring they have all the tools they need to thrive from day one.

Refresher Shangri-la Oreintation

At SLND, we believe in the continuous growth and development of our team members. Refresher Shangri-La Orientation was designed to reinforce our core values, sharpen our customer service skills, and ensure that everyone is realigned with the unique culture and standards of Shangri-La. We are excited to see the team applying the knowledge gained, enhancing their ability to create memorable moments for our guests, and living up to the Asian hospitality.

Learning About Learning Workshop

A 3-day extensive “Learning about Learning workshop” aimed at revisiting and reinforcing Learning Culture in the hotel. It was facilitated by Yuvika Sawhney Gogia, MOKSHA club participants gained valuable insights and practical tools for creating and delivering impactful learning sessions. The workshop included case studies, role plays, tools for adult learning, and techniques for creating structured, engaging, and impactful training materials along with various experiential activities. Simulations helped them to enhance their practical knowledge which focused on delivering better guest experiences. The participants received constructive feedback from peers and the facilitator to refine their delivery skills and master the learning skills.

Refresher-The Shangri-La Way

Our Shangri-La Refresher Program is a key part of this journey. Designed for both new and seasoned team members, it provides a comprehensive update on everything from our core values and service standards to the latest operational protocols and sustainability initiatives. The refresher is a dynamic and interactive experience aimed at ensuring that every member of our team is empowered to create memorable moments for our guests, with heartfelt service and a passion for excellence.

ELP Session

The Emerging Leader Program at Shangri-La is a comprehensive leadership development initiative aimed at nurturing talent from within our organization. The program provides participants with hands-on experience in key operational areas of the hotel, exposure to senior leadership, and personalized coaching to equip them with the skills necessary to excel in the fast-paced and ever-evolving world of luxury hospitality.

JLP Graduation

Prestigious graduation ceremony of Junior Leaders at the hotel. We celebrated the culmination of a transformative journey for our first-time supervisors, who have completed this rigorous and enriching program working hard for three months.

Grooming Session

The importance of grooming within the Shangri-La brand and its direct connection to professionalism and guest experience. It also emphasizes the company’s focus on employee development, personal empowerment, and the culture of excellence. Perfect for a LinkedIn audience, this post showcases how Shangri-La’s commitment to grooming contributes to both individual success and brand integrity.

IICA & IIHM VISIT - Industry Academia Interface

The educational collaboration between Shangri-La, IIHM, and IICA, showcasing the importance of knowledge sharing, real-world learning, and career development in the hospitality industry. It also promotes Shangri-La’s commitment to mentoring future professionals and contributing to the ongoing development of the hospitality sector.

Chinese tea tasting ritual

Enriching Chinese tea-tasting ritual led by the esteemed Tea Sommelier, Mr. Vikram Mittal, and tea technologist, Mr. Aman Dewan. Joined by native Chinese expert Mrs. Juliana Zhu, this immersive experience provided deep insights into the world of Chinese tea culture. During the session, exquisite teas were sampled. Participants learned about the serving sequence and the importance of proper brewing techniques, ensuring that each tea's unique flavours could shine through. The workshop not only deepened the appreciation for tea but also connected the participants to the rich traditions that surround it. We also had an audience from various Hospitality Schools who attended the workshop and found it extremely enriching and knowledgeable.

Global Townhall

The importance of the Global Townhall in fostering communication, engagement, and shared purpose among Shangri- La’s global teams. It highlights the leadership vision, employee recognition, and success stories while showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in service. It’s designed to engage and inspire the LinkedIn audience, including potential candidates and business partners.

FSSC Training

We are thrilled to share that our colleagues recently participated in the FSSC 22000 Internal Auditors (Food Safety System Certification) Training led by Aditi Kulshrestha at Shangri-La Eros, New Delhi. Participants gained crucial insights through comprehensive learning about the FSSC 22000 standard and its application in food safety management. Hands-on exercises equipped our team with the skills needed for effective internal audits. A big thank you to our trainer for her expertise and dynamic approach! This workshop is part of our ongoing commitment to professional development and ensuring the highest food safety standards within our organization.

Sake Learning Session

An exclusive sake training session led by renowned sake expert Mr. Ravi Joshi at the elegant Shangri-La Eros. This immersive workshop was designed specifically for our Food & Beverage colleagues, offering an in-depth exploration of the world of sake —a cornerstone of Japanese culture and cuisine. This training session holds significant importance for our team’s development, and a more extensive participation has undoubtedly enriched the learning experience for all involved

Plantation drive

To celebrate “World Nature Conservation Day”, A Tree plantation drive was organized in association with ‘Sankalp Taru’. Volunteers from our hotel gathered in a residential park, Ganesh Vatika, and planted over 50 saplings, contributing to a greener and healthier planet. As a “Do Good” initiative, this not only aimed to enhance our local environment but also to raise awareness about the importance of afforestation and biodiversity conservation. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this noble cause. Together, we took a step to create a difference! We will continue to nurture these saplings and inspire others to join our mission for a sustainable future!!

Job Fair at NDS

We enhanced our commitment to diversity and inclusion with Noida Deaf Society by participating in a Job Fair at their premises. A number of NDS students were recruited through Apprenticeship and FTC programs in Shangri-La. Joy on their faces was apparent and it again reinforced our efforts to empower individuals from the deaf community and provide equal employment opportunities, as well as the positive impact of creating an inclusive workplace.

Catch up with the Pond Man

Recently we met another cruisader of bringing cheers in our hotel. Meet the very humble, down to earth and a real harbinger of Change in India.... Ramveer Tanwar (PondMan).... This meeting was like turning dreams into reality and this Ted speaker turns urban jungle into oasis of Ponds where nature flourishes in abundance... Shangri-la Eros New Delhi 19 Anniversary

We celebrated 19 incredible years of Shangri-La Eros New Delhi!! To honour this special occasion, we hosted a delightful cake-cutting ceremony, bringing together our dedicated team. The event was filled with joy and companionship, reflecting the warmth and hospitality that Shangri-La is known for. As we gathered to celebrate, we reminisced about the memorable moments that have shaped our legacy, and we look forward to the exciting future ahead. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey.

House Activty by Team Sikander

Dynamic and engaging House Activity hosted by Sikanders. All the departments participated with a lot of energy and excitement. The event featured two exhilarating challenges: the Bar Push-Up Challenge and the Flip the Bottle Burrito Challenge. The Bar Push-Up Challenge was a test of strength, endurance, and determination. Participants had to perform as many push-ups as they could on a bar within a set time limit. The challenge saw fierce competition, with team members pushing their limits to achieve the highest count. Flip the Bottle Burrito Challenge was another event full of fun and quirky test of skill and precision. Participants had to successfully flip a bottle and then wrap a burrito as quickly and neatly as possible. The combination of bottle-flipping and burrito-making led to many laughs and moments of suspense as team members tried to perfect their techniques.

Fun Friday at Shangri-La

The importance of team engagement and workplace fun, emphasizing how Fun Friday contributes to employee morale, team bonding, and a positive work culture at Shangri-La. HRD reintroduced these fun happenings along with WOW Wednesdays to have a more energized and motivated workforce, which in turn contributes to exceptional guest experiences. The MOJ Celebration is more than just a special event—it is a celebration of the little things that make a big difference in our guests’ journeys. From surprise gestures to personalized experiences, Moments of Joy are the cornerstone of what makes Shangri-La’s service so exceptional. We celeberate it with gutso.

Housekeeping Week

Housekeeping Week at Shangri-La Eros, focused on recognition, team spirit, and service excellence. It highlighted the appreciation for the housekeeping team and their integral role in creating a memorable guest experience, while also showcasing the hotel's commitment to fostering a positive and supportive work environment.

Fresh Eyes Session

The importance of employee feedback and collaboration through the Fresh Eyes Session at Shangri-La, showcasing how the initiative fosters innovation, service excellence, and continuous improvement. It provides both the new joiners and the management a platform to understand each other better and making meaningful changes, helping both in settling down and leveraging the overall success of the new joiners and the organization.

Mental Health & well-being

Shangri-La’s commitment to employee well-being, emphasizing mental health awareness, supportive workplace culture, and practical wellness strategies. We now have a professional who visits the hotel every month. It demonstrates how the company actively supports its team members in maintaining both emotional and physical health, while fostering a culture of openness and care.

Farewell of DORO

It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to our esteemed Director of Revenue Optimization, Mr. Navpreet Singh Dua, who has moved on after an incredible tenure at our hotel. While we will certainly miss his leadership, expertise, and unwavering dedication, we also celebrated the lasting impact he made on our team and our organization.
