RIVERSPORT’s Trailhead Bike Park is a hub for the Greenway River Trails, which loop around Oklahoma City. From the Boathouse District, the trails lead north to Lake Overholser Boathouse, where you can enjoy a climbing wall, paddleboard and kayak rentals and access to Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge. Oklahoma City’s 100-mile trail network connects nearly every part of the city, ideal for serious bikers and runners. You can find an interactive map at okc.gov to plan your route.
Bluff Creek Park
If you prefer skateboarding or BMX, the Oklahoma City metro features three skate parks, including Mat Hoffman Action Sports Park , complete with an 11-foot half pipe, a 10-foot over-vert pocket, a street course and bowl course. Be sure to bring your own safety gear; it’s required. For more options, be sure to check out Route 66 Skate Court and South Lakes Skate Park , open daily from dawn to 11 p.m. If you’re looking for an outdoor adventure immersed in nature, Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge on the west side of OKC is adjacent to Lake Overholser and features a thousand acres of hiking, fishing, bird watching and exploring. Whitetail deer, beaver, egrets, cormorants and hundreds of species of migratory birds and waterfowl move through Stinchcomb regularly. Martin Nature Park , which is located in north OKC, is 140 acres of lush grasslands, rocky streams and rich foliage. Martin Nature Park is known for its trails, birdwatching and educational programs. Finally, Bluff Creek Park is north of Lake Hefner and offers picnic pavilions and lots of green space to explore.
