COFFEE: CAFFEINATE AND SEIZE THE DAY! Café Kacao makes our must-try coffee list because of its excellent classic cuppa Joe thanks to a partnership with local Topeca Coffee Roasters, but even more so for the super-creative coffee concoctions. Try the banana Nutella, horchata, crème brulee or salted caramel pepita lattes! Milk options include oat, almond, coconut or cow. Not Your Average Joe , in addition to being a darn fine coffee shop, is also a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire the community by hiring students and adults with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities. Add really great coffee, a pretty patio and cute merch to the mix, and it’s a win for everyone! You’ll find Junction Coffee two ways – the storefront in Automobile Alley and the double- decker bus that parks and brews in regular locations throughout the week. Here on a Saturday? Enjoy a stroll at Scissortail Park or Myriad Gardens and you might just get lucky! The London Fog is a non-coffee delight – Earl Grey tea, foamy milk and house-made vanilla syrup. Elemental Coffee roasts its own beans. There are two locations – Midtown and OKC Will Rogers International Airport. The coffee shop standards are excellent thanks to the phalanx of expert cool- kid baristas – think flat white, cortado, latte and their ilk – but it’s their pour-overs that really shine. You’ll have to wait a few minutes, pour- overs aren’t instant, but it’s well worth the time. Stella Nova is a relatively new kid on the block, but it’s quickly become a favorite. Try a toasted cinnamon cold foam cold brew or a skinny vanilla latte that tastes truly decadent. The non-coffee drinks are top-notch, too. Frozen lemonade is an absolute gift on a steamy Oklahoma day. Coffee Slingers Roasters is one of OKC’s first roasteries. Its coffees are handcrafted works of caffeinated art. Some drinks are only available hot and some are recommended to be enjoyed cold, like an aerated iced Americano. Perhaps most unique is the delicious Golden Milk Latte – a house-made blend of turmeric, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon and black pepper, decaf coffee and milk. The Red Cup serves only LEAP Roasters’ free trade organic coffee, with bean choices including Brazilian, Ethiopian, French, Guatemalan, Mexican, Rwandan, Sumatran or decaf. The vibe here is artsy, cool, casual and a little funky. Sit outside and the neighborhood rooster might pay you a visit as you sip your Sexi Mexi, a mocha latte spiked with cinnamon and Cayenne.
