jectives. It would have been much more useful if it had been a scientific analysis of the subject matter in the illustrations. The book can be used, however, on the basis of its table of contents and divisions, both of which are in alphabetical order. 254 pages; cloth; Zondervan Publ. House, Grand Rapids; $3.95. Pete and Penny Know and Grow By Dorothy Grunbock Johnston While the subtitle of this book is “Delightful Devotional Readings for Boys and Girls,” it is not organized like a daily devotional manual. It consists of short readings of a couple of pages depicting the life of a fam ily with children who are at the age when family devotions ought to be come a habit. The book can be used as a devotional reading itself, or inter spersed with Bible readings or it can be turned over to the children for their own reading. A story is pre sented in each, with a Bible truth or teaching and the Scripture passage involved. This is the second in a series of Pete and Penny books. 191 pages; paper over boards; Scripture Press, Wheaton, 111.; $2.50 END. THE CHRISTIAN'S DAILY GUIDE by William S. Deal. 100 pages; fabricoid; Baker Book House, Grand Rapids; $1.00. A devotional book for the year with a verse and half a dozen lines of text for each day. ETERNAL SECURITY AND THE BIBLE AS SEEN BY A LAYMAN by Samuel R. Harding. 87 pages; paper; Christian Service Foundation, Moline, III.; 40c (available also in cloth for $2.50). One hundred thirty-five Scripture pas sages ore studied in this little manual, which concludes that "Christ's sheep will never perish" but the sheep are defined as "those who follow Him." THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH AND OTHER REVIVAL SERMONS by Angel Martinez. 120 pages; cloth; Zondervan Publ. House, Grand Rapids; $2.00. The author is a Latin-American evangelist from the Southern Baptist Conven tion, who has memorized nearly the whole New Testament. TEN PASTORS SPEAK FOR PERSONAL EVAN GELISM edited by Clude Bunzel. 136 pages; paper; Twentieth Century Evangelism, Pasa dena, Calif.; $1.50. Practical and dynomic messages on an important theme for any church. ZECHARIAH by G. Coleman Luck. 125 pages; paper; Moody Press, Chicago; 35c. This is No. 325 of the Colportage libraty. The book deals with the prophetic visions of 2!echariah in a brief but helpful way. THE BOOK OF REVELATION: A NEW TRANS LATION OF THE APOCOLYPSE by J. B. Phillips. 50 pages; cloth; The Macmillan Co., New York; $2.00. This completes the translation of the entire New Testament by the British journalist and broadcaster. Those fomiliar with Letters to Young Churches and his other translations may be surprised to find here a language a little closer to the familiar authorized translation than in some of his others. A retreat to the more literal form, rather than an excursion into an expanded illumination is explained as fol lows: "Who can explain or expand if both mys tery and compression are felt to be an essen tia! part of the original writing? If the author intends a mystery, then the translator must transmit a mystery; if the author is deliberately obscure the translator can only reproduce the obscurity!" The King's Business/July 1958
